Hybrid hard drives on the MBP?

I've been thinking a lot about the possibility of SSDs on the new MBPs.

The problem is that SSDs of respectable sizes (at least 500gb) are crazy-expensive and would represent at least 50% of the price of a current MBP.

But the other option, shipping HDDs, doesn't seem plausible because the new MBPs will be noticeably slower than the Air when launching applications.

The possibility of the MBP having two drives, one SSD and another HDD, seems not very likely, according to some people in this forums.

That leaves us with hybrid drives ... why are they not a possibility?

It's possible, but an extra drive (which is already optional in the iMac) is more likely than a hybrid. There are issues with hybrid disks too.
