Hyperlinks in Word

I have a word document on my MBP which has hyperlinks within it. When you open it the hyperlinks do not work. Have tried the command keys but still no joy.

Do you have to enable them somewhere?

What do you mean by "they don't work" ? Is the address correct?

Yes, the links work on a windows pc, but on the mac book all you get is a error.
