do anybody knows if this is already available in the RC? I don't see how to activate it or check if it is active. Sleep score is there also for past months that's great but not hypertension measurement or alerts.
In the presentation it sounded like they still wait for final clearance or did I mishear?

I'll be interested to read more about this tech and the implementation. Like the elusive blood sugar monitoring, there is only so much the watch can monitor through the skin on the wrist

That’s really cool. So the only new features is the bigger battery? And potentially diamond black not breaking as often as my jet black Apple Watch 10. 😅
Seems so. That, 5G, and the more scratch-resistant glass (finally). But the bigger battery is a huge upgrade imho. Yearly upgrades are pretty hard to come by for the AW anyway... especially after 2 big ones in a row (9 with the S9 chip and gestures, 10 with the redesign, and both get the Apnea + Hypertension alerts).

I think this feature still needs FDA approval.

I didn't think it was possible to monitor blood pressure via the skin on the wrist. If that was the case why do drs use cuffs that go around the top of the arm, is then inflated and deflated to give a score, at leas that's the way drs here in the UK do it. I'm assuming it's the same world wide tho.

I've been checking. The section on the health app is there already. It said you can turn on in the Heart settings of Apple Watch app. In that settings of Apple Watch there is not hypertension setting yet, at least in Spain, maybe different in the US.

I'm actually a little shocked by this announcement. I'm glad they did it and kudos to Apple but I was going to upgrade and now I don't have to.

As someone on medication for hypertension and only upgraded my old S6 stainless steel to a S10 titanium earlier this year, this news that hypertension detection is coming to my watch without needing to upgrade is brilliant news. Even happier with my watch now.

Very happy to see my Series 10 getting it. Don't see any reason to upgrade. Will try it out on my watch.
6 extra hours of battery life is the reason for me, but yes without this and assuming sleep score is software feature, then the slightly more scratch resistance and slightly thinner, makes it very small update since the cellular on watch is already niche and 5g imagine wouldn't be practical benefit and if anything would just drain the battery more when enabled.

I like the idea of blood pressure monioring but I am concerned without actual readings what is the alert telling me. Just getting the alert will raise my blood pressure. Will have to see works out in the world.

Guess all the complaints on MacRumors worked. Apple reads this website a lot.
sure. because majority of users on here have complained about Siri for the past decade but forget about that, they totally listened to us about locking features down artificially!

So no actual blood pressure monitoring?
Too early to tell. I'm hoping it is like the Wrist Temperature. Where they advertise it as monitoring a trend and just show that, but if you go into details you can see the actual readings.
