how can i know that he has official unlocked iphone ??

i can only check the box before i buy

I assume then it's either 4.0.0 or 4.0.1, simply because there are no iPhones out there that have come out of the box with 4.0.2. In either case it's jailbreakable and unlockable.

i know about this because you can't jailbreak 4.0.2.

but does the box from outside says that the ip4 from US or UK or any other country ??

US iphone 4 are locked but the other no

You won't know if the iPhone is from the US or UK until you open it and pop open the SIM tray.

Don`t the US phones have an at&t logo on the back of the box?

Also, if its a Canadian one it will also have a different part # then the US ones, and presumably the UK ones. If the iPhone was purchased in Canada and they have the reciept its possible to see if it was unlocked w/o opening it.

No, all boxes look the same and dont have any carrier mention or anything that would indicate if its factory unlocked or not.
You can only tell after you restore the phone or pop in a various sim.

what about the model number ?? can i check it ??

and how to know if it is from US by model number ?

cant we use imei or serial number in apple serever to dteremmine whether an iphone is unlocked or lucked?

Knew it!

If its a canadian one, if they have the reciept and it indicates NO CONTRACT SIM underneath the phone SKU, it is unlocked.
