woooooo, saw a Brand New 13" Mac Book Pro mid-2010 model up for grabs on craigslist for $1080. Called the guy up, was very helpful, said that I was going to be the first to ever touch the macbook. I thought he was kidding.

Met up with him at USC, opened the box and WALLA! it was still in its original packaging plastic things, I said GOOD DAY SIR and handed him the cash.

Sold my Blackbook for 600.

bought a new 22" LED Viewsonic(I know not IPS, but I don't need IPS), new keyboard, mouse, mouse pad, desk...

now I need...a stand/dock any recommendations?

someone point me to the overclocking threads! CPU/Graphics

need to upgrade to a 7200rpm HDD maybe the Hitachi Travelstar(any thoughts)?

1. iLap is pretty popular but any standard notebook cooler will do.

2. OC'ing isn't really recommended as these already get pretty hot as is and aren't designed to handle much more overclocking...

3. That or the WD, just my opinion but I tend to stay away from Seagate... too many horror stories (unusual even given the complainersroblem-free ratio prevalent on the internet)

These new MBPs are quite capable. You might not feel the need to OC or the need for a special cooler.

I made my own for $20 and a trip to the local Home Depot... Also, I have the Hitachi Travelstar 7K500 500GB 7200rpm drive... I love it! One thing-it needs HDAPM to be applied to it...

HDAPM? - software to adjust the power management settings of a drive.
Not necessary - I have the Hitachi 500GB HD installed, nice drive, and I have had no need to use the HDAPM software.
Most posts I have seen have been related to the WD Scorpio blue needing the HPAPM to stop the constant head parking. I had a bad experience with that drive and issue, totally unusable as an internal drive, but the drive works in an USB enclosure just fine, so it must be an issue with the SATA controller in the MBP. Could be that different drives have the setting set differently from the factory too.

base model, umm where on amazon can you link? I don't see any of it under 1100. Plus I wanted it ASAP since I needed a laptop for school after I sold my blackbook.

Anywho I'm sure I could have probably gotten one under 1000 if it was used. But this one was new, looking at CL right now in the Los Angeles area, I don't see any new ones under 1k.

Brand new for 1080, I think it's a good deal considering the fact that the new MBPs go for 1199 + california tax.

yeah, and the fact that they took the g4 channel off of direct tv sucks even more. But the only reason I watched g4 was for olivia anyway and she barely goes on the show nowadays...so sad.
