I am still in my honeymoon period with my 3 week old watch and enjoying having it. One thing i never considered was that I am the only one i know with the watch which means there are 2 functions I will never get to use.

Are people here using the Digital Touch features (Heartbeats and Sketch) regularly with other watch users or are they just a gimmick?

I will never know the joy of receiving a sketch or heartbeat on mine (for the moment unless I buy the wife one) as I either have no friends or live in a local area of miserable swines who wont buy the watch. :(:(:(

So, how is it then?

Do not feel bad, I know three other people with an Apple Watch and never used the Heartbeat or Sketch function.

I am not the least bit missing either!

I suppose its one of those features that if you have never used you don't know. ;)

Me too. I'm vaguely tempted to try the sketch thing but haven't bothered yet. The heartbeat just seems a bit creepy.

I can see it being a novelty if your girl friend or wife had one but sending the HR or a sketch to another seems a little creepy to me. The others I know who have the AW are all males and even being just a cat, I am a BOY CAT!

I have added my own address to the Friends screen on my Apple Watch, so I could send a drawing or my heartbeat to myself... The sad part is that I have actually sent it. Twice.

I too, am sad, and have no friends... (with an watch.) :D

If you want to try the features, just add your number to favorites, and you can see what it's like to get sketches/heartbeats. Even if my friends/family had watches , we probably wouldn't use the feature. It's just kind of useless for me.

The wife and I have used it quite a bit since I she got her watch, I mainly send penis drawings and she sends me poo drawings.
All very childish but gives us a much needed giggle at times.
The tap tap feature is good for getting her attention without having to write or drop call her.

My coworker has a Moto 360, and we've talked about how useful the digital tapping feature would be at work if our Watches played nice with each other.

The sketches might be good to cure some boredom or have a laugh, as others have said. I don't think I'd ever use it as Apple advertised during the reveal.

The heartbeat I can't really think of a use.

One of my subscribers emailed me probably mid May and I've been using digital touch with him ever since. And there is this guy I know in real life who bought a watch 2 days ago and he's still trying to get to know his watch. I've sent him multiple sketches but he hasn't replied with a sketch. I think he's still trying to figure out how lol. But when people know how to use it and actually do its really cool.

So now I tried to add myself to favs on watch but when I select myself I get the call and message icons and a spinning circle in between. Doesn't seem to want me to use this feature at all.

I, too, know no other enlightened soul with an Apple Watch. I've barely seen any walking around town, and most of my friends are too dull (/cheap) to buy one and try it out. Digital Touch (is that name not a tad creepy?) will have to wait.

I don't know anyone with an AW either but I paired up with someone on this forum and we sent drawings to one another just to test it out. It was very fiddly - all I could manage was a vague squiggle!

My partner just got an Apple watch as a birthday gift, and is trying it for a few days. So I've been playing with digital touch, and it seems that once a touch message is played, there's no way to replay it? I keep sending touch messages, and he keeps missing them because he doesn't look quick enough. :(

The side button is pointless to me. I wish I could reassign it to some other function - like open a particular app.

It's very useful if you use Apple Pay. But I agree that it would be good to be able to program it to do other things.

Same... no plans to send heart beat or sketches... we should be able to program the buttons on the side for different things we want to do and they hopefully can expand the force touch for more feature choices. I would love to press the favorites button on the side three times to turn on and off the wrist raise or use force touch on the home screen to do more than customize the watch face - maybe have choices that we can set? Maybe three touches on the crown turns on the workout app for one person and for another it loads their most used app or enables/disables features for certain instances.

If I go to bed, I turn on do not disturb if it isn't already enable from the phone, I turn on wrist raise and then cover the watch face to turn it off. Would be nice to triple push a button to do this for you.

All just examples that should act like the iPhone Home Button and programming. Force touch on the home screen can give options instead of just customize. Hoping for these features as I do not use the favorites button for contacts. Let me program like I can now with Apple Pay. :)

I had fun for the first week. Once I learned its limitations and drawbacks I promptly returned it. I had a feeling I wouldn't find a compelling reason to keep it but wanted the first hand experience to save from relying on others opinions.

All I can say, "I told you so!" That sketch and heartbeat are useless gimmicks that one could expect from the likes of Samsung, not Apple.
