Mac OS X: Changing or resetting an account password:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1274

Make sure to expand the section "Resetting the original administrator account password."

Or, if you don't have an OS disc:

    http://gigaom.com/apple/reset-os-x-password-without-an-os-x-cd/
This method works by tricking the OS into thinking you haven't setup an account yet, so when you reboot it lets you create a new admin account as if the OS was just installed. Once you have a new admin account, you should be able to reset the password of the other one or simply delete it (if you've been using the other account and have stuff stored already, you would probably want to change the password and save the account instead of deleting it and losing your stuff).

You might be able to backdoor it with user name 'root' password 'root'

That could get you in tomdelete the admin account and setup new account.

I'd just grab the install CD's and reset the entire computer to factory...

I would recommend this as well. You don't want whatever crap they had on their system laying around, you never know what people keep on their drives... Some of which might not be legal.

Not to mention that a Mac sold without a password, just might not have been a legal transaction...just saying.
