your probably just not used to oled i noticed the same thing when i switched to oled from lcd, give it time you will get used to it and then will love it. the other improvements like the camera etc are so much better then what the 8 plus has to offer.

Agreed. The time to adjust normally exceeds 14 days or so depending on what country you’re in.

I feel stupid saying this but I prefer my 8 plus. I like lcd over oled.

Agree, although I'm not sure why you'd feel stupid. I tried the Max. Boring. Does the same stuff as my 8 Plus, no better. Plus that notch...you can't unsee it. Lots of little things I dislike about the new design, too.

One thing the Max did for me was teach me to re-appreciate the 8. The home button, the bezels for holding, the better screen (for my eyes). All lovely. Actually iOS 14 made the 8 feel upgraded. Who needs a new phone?

Now I'm looking forward to getting a new battery for the 8 and keeping it as long as I can. Feels good not to waste money on stuff that doesn't add anything significant to your life.

Not feeling it, I bought on macbook air m1 and I love it but with the iphone I just not feeling it. I feel bad bringing it bad.

Don’t feel bad. It’s just a tool. Not getting you anywhere new? That’s all you need to know. Kudos that you made your own opinion by actually trying it out in the real world.

I can't even imagine going back to any camera other than my iPhone 12 Pro Max. Portrait mode shots look incredible, low-light sensitivity is fantastic, and the longer telephoto is very useful.

Yup, the camera is sick!!

We don’t all use a computer for the same things so priories differ. Maybe the OP already has a dedicated camera system in place.
Oh i totally get it. I understand. Just asking...because if camera is a non-issue, then there was no need to upgrade in the first place from 8+. The A11 from that phone should still be pretty darn good now...as indicated above posts.

So, i was just wondering what was the rationale for upgrading...and if so, did they think camera was important?

For those who prefer 8, did you even bother to take a picture? The camera alone.....

Given all the hubbub about the camera, I was expecting more, but silly me. I have professional cameras and lenses. The iphone cameras--all of them--seem like toys by comparison. And when I actually get the images on my computer...yuck. Oversharpened and artificial. They fall apart easily and lack character. No thanks to the camera. It's junk to me, a tool to shoot quick snaps, throwaway pics, and qr codes.

Don’t hold back..🤣
Comparing pro or semi pro equipment to the iPhone is moot really.

Right. I upgraded from iPhone 7 to iPhone 12, and wondered if I should go for the 12 pro, in the hope that it could replace my Sony mirrorless. But in spite of all the progress in computational photography, it cannot compete with the superior hardware of a mirrorless or DSLR. Yes, they iPhone 12 takes a lot better pictures than the 7, but it is still miles from what you can get from a real camera.

My son still has an 8+, and every time I see it and hold it, I am surprised at how thin and light it is.

I actually agree. I still like my 7 Plus over the 11 Pro Max. Screen wise at least. I replaced my first 11 Pro Max due to a very yellow and uninformed screen. My second one is still pretty yellow and I have to use color filters. My 7 Plus is beautiful without any modification to the screen at all.
