So your selling your laptop then? Its not a laptop replacement period. And sorry I should have clarified its a smartphone...still a phone.

I never said it was a laptop replacement. But saying "it's not a computer" is just wrong. The iPhone increasingly performs more and more functions and takes away some of the need to use a computer for those functions. There are ones it will never take away such as word processing, but that is besides the point. We wouldn't settle for non-multitasking on our computer, why do we on our phones (iPod functionality excepted)? Read the post I linked to earlier, again if you need to.

But it "dings" once, doesn't it?? Thought the 3G I had dinged once when a new mail came in. Am I wrong?

If my phone is in silent mode and asleep, the phone will not vibrate. At least that is my experience so far. It will only vibrate with a new txt, the AIM push notification or a call.

It should vibrate with an e-mail as well.

@Badandy: I used to experience what you were talking about with Safari having to reload, but with the 3GS, I can go many hours using different apps, and go back into Safari, and the pages are still there waiting for me. No reload necessary. I keep at least 5 Safari pages going, too.

I think you have me confused with the OP. I've mentioned several times in this thread that Safari doesn't need to reload with the 3GS. It's fantastic.

I called retentions and threatened to cancel my line, they gave me an Airave for free and waived the monthly fee for the life of my line. It doesn't affect the internet speed, and I already have fios, so It's no big deal to me. I don't see what's funny about a free personal cell tower.

Yep, it's all free. Smart move on their part. My point is just I personally wouldn't want yet another piece of equipment to have to run in my house and that my correcting their service should be somewhat compensated. I assume the microcell is locked down so only cell phones you approve of can use the Airave?

Yes, it only works for the three lines we have in our house. It looks just like a router. Also, I returned my Pre today and am keeping the iPhone, so I won't need the Airave anymore.

The UI of the Pre is better than the iPhone IMHO, but the hardware and the app store on the iPhone beats the Pre. Most of all the iPhone is just not buggy, and is solid, so I kept it. I miss my Pre a bit, but I'll come back to WebOS once they get the kinks worked out, and get a more solid piece of hardware.

I love the iPhone. Using it for less than 2 days, but I think its great. Their are aspects of WebOS I like better, especially the alert mechanism. But all the things I thought would be a big deal are really not. I love it so far! I prefer the touch keyboard and can type very fast on it already, I think because I never used a physical keyboard i can approach it with fresh eyes and muscle memory. I would not want a physical keyboard as I like how the non-physical gives me a lot of flexibility
