Since they're both "preparing for shipment" I can't cancel either. However instead of returning one once I receive them, do you think selling one on eBay would be worth it? Maybe someone (internationally) would be willing to pay a little extra (in shipping costs) and not wait 3-4 weeks? Or is that shady?

IIRC, both eBay and PayPal now have a six month buyer satisfaction period (essentially a return period). I'm not sure I'd sell something like a computer on eBay any more, given how eBay and PayPal favor buyers with alleged complaints. If it were me, I'd just return the thing to Apple.

Only if you mark up the price, if you sell at your cost I don't see any issue.

Q-6

The problem is that eBay fees will total around 13%, so unless you mark it up at least that much you don't even get what you paid. And as I pointed out, you are taking an extended risk on the buyer being happy and not changing his/her mind about their purchase.

Surely if you've bought them off Apple then all you would need to do is, upon receiving them, take one back to apple store for refund.

Or, just return one of the boxes. It's very easy. Just Google it. I know Apple refunds your money right away. Or, as the poster above me says take it to a store.

If the ssd was a 256, I would take it off your hands.

You might want to consider selling one on eBay for a small profit.

Also, I know with preordered phones you could just refuse the shipment when it arrives and your order would be automatically cancelled and refunding. But if they both come in the same shipment you might not be able to refuse just one of them.

Worst case, you can certainly and easily take one into the store and return it for a full no-questions-asked refund at any time during the first 14 days after you receive the shipment.

eBay and PayPal fees wind up making it unprofitable, usually. However, shipment times just slipped to 4-6 weeks. So if you have Market Place forum access here (you need to have 250 posts and be on MR for 6 months to see it), you might try a direct sale over there.

Well, that was fast. Sold on ebay in 4 hours. Netted a cool $300 profit. I should probably feel a little bad, but some people are charging $2300! I listed at $1999. But hey, I guess not waiting 4-6 weeks is worth $300 to someone...
