I use a lot of GIFs, especially in Slack. When I got annoyed with their GIF integration, I built my own.

It lives in the macOS menu bar and lets you:
  • Search for GIFs
  • Drag & drop them into most apps (like Discord, iMessage, etc.)
  • Click to copy a GIF link to the clipboard
Website: https://quickgif.app/
Store Link: https://apps.apple.com/de/app/quickgif-gifs-at-light-speed/id6744745027?l=en-GB&mt=12

Happy to hear your thoughts! Also if you encounter any problems with the app, please let me know!

Menu bar GIF sharing is a nice narrow tool, the kind of thing that's small enough nobody else bothers building properly. When you drag a GIF straight into something like Discord or iMessage, are you using NSItemProvider under the hood or writing straight to the pasteboard, curious how much that choice affects which apps actually accept the drop cleanly.
