My wrist is too large for the normal SS band, but I was able to purchase five additional links off of eBay, they are the real deal, not some Chinese knockoffs. I went to an Apple store today and tried on their watch with five extra links from another of their watches, and it fits! So when I get home from traveling this Wednesday morning I will be picking up a 42mm SS Apple Watch with the SS band.

I badgered Apple about purchasing links directly from them, but despite repeated inquiries, and even an email to Tim Cook, that was a dead end. Somewhat annoyed at them for missing out on this simple market, they do so much for so many people with different challenges, but a simple extra link for sale seems to be beyond them.

The links are going for $50-$60 each on eBay, I got mine for less by buying five at once.

I had to buy the Milanese Loop band to get a proper fit on my SS 42"  Watch

Glad you found a way to get the band to fit even if it wasn't directly thorough Apple. I assume things like links and adapters are just not something they want to stock although even if they didn't carry it in the stores, ordering extra parts online would be really nice.

Hey post a photo of your expanded band when you get it all together.

Wow $50 for each link!!? I think I will sell mine. I have 5 links to sell so that is $250 so total cost of bracelet will be $200 for me!

Until you try to sell it when you no longer want it or want to upgrade to gen 2 with a different band but have a difficult time because you've excluded prospective buyers with larger wrists than yours. Make sure you'll never want to sell it.

yea thought about it, but worth the risk. if i do decide to sell it in the future, i can perhaps by extra links at a lower cost to make it more appealing (assuming it will be way cheaper than $50/each by then). getting the link bracelet at about 200-250 (including tax and paypal fees) is still a good deal even if i cant sell it

As much as I wanted the link bracelet from the very beginning, I am so glad to be happy with the leather loop. My wrists change size during the course of the day and I love being able to change the size on the fly. Also for the excercise mode it is nice to be able to move and tighten the watch for a good HR reading.

I've got the leather loop band and I totally agree with you. It's actually longer than it needs to be for my small wrists, I did get the medium. If they ever offer a small one for the 42 watch I'll probably get it. But I love this band and it's so easy to make small adjustments as your wrist shrinks or swells with humidity and exertion. And, in my opinion, really looks sharp!
