As the thread title says I can no longer edit anything on my External HDD (change name, delete, rename etc.). First I used this HDD for my movies only. After a few days I got the idea to use it as a TimeMachine backup as well at the same time. At first it worked great but slowly(it started with just a few) I could no longer edit my movies. I deactivated TimeMachine and wanted to delete the backup.backupdb but every time I try to delete something in the HDD it gives error 'Right: com.apple.desktopservices' I have tried changing the permissions: Read and write I have tried Repair Disc Permissions in Disc Utilities but the option is grayed out. Is there anyway to get the permissions back? I COULD reformat the entire drive but I really want to keep my movies (150 GB worth). INFO: Mac OS 10.6.2 Movies are located on an external HDD connected through USB. The EHDD is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and is 1TB in size.
