How do you setup the phone to send mail, such as pictures? I have set it up so my Yahoo mail comes to the phone, but when I hit reply I get an error message.

Try setting up your Yahoo mail again.

It would help if you included in your post what the error message says.

My yahoo is currently having major problems with send ing or receiving mail. SOmetimes things go through, sometimes they don't. This is after getting the sent receipt, they just disappear. I don't have it set on phone so it may not be the same issue you are having. But if you think everything is right and it just isn't working, it could be Yahoo's fault.

Are you on wifi or cell when the error message occurs?

If it's on wifi, your ISP may require you to use their smtp server or something similar to that.

Yeah, there are multiple threads on this, I guess I should keep a copy my response as I keep posting the workaround...

This is supposedly a known issue by Apple that they are working on. The interim fix is to force the email app to close. To do this follow these steps:

1. Open email app
2. Hold down home button for ~15 seconds until the email app closes (this is force closing the app)
3. Go back into the email app and you should be able to send
4. If steps 1 - 3 fail, power cycle the phone

I have done the above 1 - 3 and it works to resolve the issue.

Hope this helps.

ETA: BTW, if you were trying to send a message and it wasn't sending, force closing the email app will result in the message draft you were trying to send to be lost. This is the one really annoying part of the workaround but as far as I am aware their is no way to prevent the message loss. You will need to retype the message and send again.

Erase the account from your phone and do it again, but be sure to include the SMTP address, your username, and your password (as well as the above in IMAP). That should solve your problem.

That's an awful lot of work when it really won't solve the problem.

As I stated in my previous thread, it is my understanding that this is a known issue that Apple is working on. I could be wrong on this point but I can tell you that my workaround will solve the problem (at least on a temporary basis).

People have done what you have recommended and it doesn't appear to solve the problem long term. This issue seems to be a bug in the firmware.

I wasn't aware it was a firmware problem. I had the error occur once and it seemed to be solved by just erasing the account. Haven't had a problem since. If it's firmware I guess we'll have to wait it out, but my method will work for the short term.
