Disclaimer: I do suffer from OCD which tends to lead to a lot of indecisiveness and/or impulsiveness when it comes to purchasing things. My phone is no exception.

I had a 13 Pro Max that I had bought off OfferUp, fully paid off. I intended on using it as long as possible, but when the 17s came out, I got a Pro Max in Deep Blue because the lightning port on my 13 PM wasn't functioning. I then decided to return my new 17 PM and just pay the $125 to have the charging port on my 13 PM fix (was trying to be smart with my money). Well, not long after, the power button my 13 PM stopped working. I ended up getting a 17 PM again, this time in Cosmic Orange.

More recently, I've grown to dislike the orange. I've been wanting to exchange for silver and also thought I'd prefer the smaller Pro, as the Pro Max is a bit big for me. I bought a silver Pro and ended up returning it, because again, I didn't want to waste money. I finally got fed up enough with the large size of my PM and the orange color that I again purchased a silver Pro and sold my orange 17 PM for good on Facebook marketplace.

I do prefer the size of the Pro - however, I can't help but notice that the battery life is trash. As someone who is on their phone a lot, I could use my phone all day with the Pro Max and not even use more than 25% of the battery. I feel like the Pro battery just drains so fast. Tomorrow is the last day I can return my Pro and my local Apple Store actually has a Pro Max in silver (silver PMs have been hard to come by in my area) that I reserved for pickup tomorrow.

I'd just hate to go back to the PM again and then dread it's massive size, but man, I miss that battery life. Especially knowing I'll be going on a vacation to Italy this summer, I'd like to have a phone that has a battery that can last me all day while I'm out and about snapping photos, etc.

Any input is appreciated.

Bless you and your frequent returning of iPhones, if only you had complained about PWM every time.

If you only go through 25% a day on the max, then what do you go through on the pro? Surely it can't be more than 100%? The pro is only ~15% less battery, plus it has a smaller screen. Couldn't you charge the pro nightly?

i wouldn’t do that as they adviced here i would go for a power bank without question, is crazy how different we use the device my phone can be a day and a half easily , and when i watch a lot of videos i charge it once a day
Since weight and size is too much sacrifice for me (the pro is definitely the right size for me, i even wish it would be lighter)

dude. return this silver pro. get a new silver pro and silver pro max. then return both. and then buy the one which you miss having. or repeat the above this you reach a conclusive point.

I have a silver pro max. Always had big phones since the 7 plus jet black. I do appreciate the screen size and battery life. I talk on the phone a lot day to day for work and travel a lot due to my job, so having the max battery life is important. If your only concern is the size, you could go caseless with a glass screen protector only and skin

Being retired and not needing the larger battery I stay in my lane of having a iPhone that is easier to pocket and I having tried out the Pro Max in the past I did not like it overwhelming size. I did appreciate the larger size when reading before my cataract surgery 2 years ago but once I had the surgery I went back and with the smaller easier size of the Pro.

It all depends on the person on what they want and somewhat what they need. My use case is more of easier to single hand use of the phone along with it being easier to pocket. Battery life for me is less of an issue as I can easily charge when at home or on the road.

First off. Think more before you purchase, and stop buying and returning so many phones. It's quite wasteful.

Second. I went from 14 Pro Max to 17 Pro. It's fantastic. You use this device a lot. You know in your heart which is the right one. All batteries deteriorate over time and the 17 Pro has an exceptional battery. If you said you only use 25% of the battery on the Pro Max, that means you'd still have well over half left at end of the day with the Pro. The battery is certainly not trash on it, it's one of the longest-lasting phones on the market. Most people are going for the 17 which has a worse battery than the 17 Pro, and most people are not having any issues. So maybe reconsider whether it's "trash".

Also, I have a friend that went for 17 Pro Max, and regretfully tells me every time I see him that he should have gone Pro, and the Pro Max is far too big. Seems to be a very common sentiment. If I were you I'd buy the phone I actually want to use, and give the battery a shot. I believe it uses more in the initial days after setting up the phone too which might have affected your experience if you're returning and re-buying them every five seconds.
