I recently upgraded to Tahoe on my 2020 iMac. I didn't care for it and did a wipe and reinstall of Sequoia. No Apple Music / TV will not authorize. I'm on Monterey and get the same error, "There was a temporary problem completing your request. Try again later". Six different Apple support techs couldn't figure it out and they finally told me to install Tahoe and the problem will be solved.

Is there any way to fix this?

I finally was able to solve the problem by authorizing via Apple Books.

Now Messages closes on its own after a few seconds. Maybe Windows 11 isn't so bad afterall.
This problem was escalated at Apple Support, but I found a solution on Apple's formus. If you see this in future, you can fix it by going to System Settings > General > App Background Activity. Turn off each item one by one and try logging into Message. For me, this was a fresh install of Tahoe and it turned out to be the Weather.app. Once I turned it off Messages logged in fine, then I turned the Weather.app back on and for now everything is working.
