I love all the new features Apple has brought to Messages in iOS17 and iOS18, but there's still one feature I'm dying for...

The ability to change the name and photo associated with a group message thread without it appearing that way for others.

I'm someone who tends to care about little details more than the next, and have always wanted my group threads (especially those that are pinned) to have some consistency in appearance. But we message everyday and I feel the app can get very messy when your family or friends or teammates decide to use some crazy photo/name/emojis for the group. I realize I can always go in and change them, but I hate to let my own need for simplicity/organization ruin the fun.

Anyone else, or am I alone on this?

I feel the same way. I think it's silly that it has to show for everyone. I feel the same way about contact posters - who spends all day decorating their contacts?

Never really thought about this.... I guess I'm ok just giving it a name that everyone else sees or no name at all and just the list of participants.... I don't really have this level of OCD where I need my messages list to have consistency lol.
