I Can't Drop AAC Files in iTunes, help?

I'm making ringtones for my iPhone and can't drag and drop files into iTunes. How can I fix this?

From your title, I see that you are trying to add AAC files but from where are these files coming from?

If I were to make ringtones, I use garageband --> select ringtone --> slice a song --> import it to itunes --> sync and I'm done.
