My OS is Tahoe 26.3.1.

My new magic mouse suddenly went dead, then only realised I can't even see the batt level, I believed the right path is system setting > blue tooth > mouse. But don't have batt indicator. Being new to Tahoe, I searched all over each and every menu but just can't find the mouse batt level. Is it designed that way? Then Apple is really taking 3 steps backwards.

You should be able to check the battery level of connected bluetooth devices in the bluetooth setting, the mouse setting, and the battery widget.

The battery level settings are in the Control Center on the right side of your screen. Select the two battery icons, then select "Bluetooth On". Keyboard and Mouse battery levels are there

It’ll only show battery level if it’s connected, of course. So not to state the obvious but… recharge/reconnect THEN follow advice above.
