i'm facing some troubles with my mac and i think i need to restore my firmware. i read some articles in apple support and i think i have to download my firmware Restoration CD, but i can't find the one which is compatable with my macbook pro. my model idintifier is MacBookPro8,2 . which firmware should i install ?

Apple store is far away, and i hope i can solve this problem by my self.

That link will tell you which EFI version is appropriate for your system. Have you at any time successfully updated your firmware?

Thanks so much, then i guess i have no way but to send the laptop to apple care. i was trying to avoid that since im in another country where i don't have apple store here.

You could call apple and ask them to ship the disc.

Unfortunately, Apple hasn't released firmware restore disks for every model. Even if they did, it's not going to fix your issue. It's intended for machines that failed during the firmware upgrade process, and these machines would generally fail to boot with the SOS tone.
