OP:

Do you by any chance have an Intel-based Mac?
I have a 2018 Mini, and 15.1 won't install (I believe the AI features require an m-series Mac).

Of course, if you HAVE an m-series Mac and it STILL won't install, that's not the issue...

I use m2 pro MacBook Pro 14

This is weird. I have an M2 Pro MBP that was running Sonoma 14.6.1. I set the "Beta Updates" in the Software Update page in Settings to "macOS Sequoia 15.1 Developer Beta", and I immediately got the 15.1 beta update. So far it's been pretty good.

I also have an M2 Pro MacMini and I did the same exact thing as above. But on my MacMini, it only installed the 15.0 beta. It never shows that the 15.1 beta is available.

Could it be that they're "staggering" the releases of the 15.1 Developer Beta? I don't understand why I could get it on one Mac but not the other, when both are using an M2 Pro chip.

I'm in the same boat and can't get 15.1 beta 2 to show up. I was able to install it on my MacBook, though. As of right now, I have 15.0 beta 7 on my M2 studio.

I read a forum about this we can't install 15.1 beta 2 because 15.0 beta is released after 15.1 beta 2 we must wait another new 15.1 update
maybe next week new 15.1 update :)

Hmm, interesting. Before I installed beta 7, I had the beta before 15.1 was released. I was out of the country with my MacBook and was able to install 15.1 beta 1 and beta 2 on that.

I just got back and was trying to update my studio to 15.1, but the update would not show. So, I gave up and installed 15.0 B7 to get updates and bug fixes. I'm curious if it needs a certain version of the 15.0 beta as a base before the 15.1 beta shows up.

Looking at the 2 week cycle we should probably get B3 this week. Hopefully it will show up.

Just create a free developer account with your main Apple-ID and it will appear to choose in settings.

I didn't get an update to the second beta offered until I changed my region to USA. But the first install went without any problem.

If you are not interested in the Intelligence functions like me. There is no difference, you just have to wait a week longer for updates. I am thinking of downgrading, but not sure if it's worth it, because just overwriting doesn't work.

A public beta might appear shortly after 15.0 is officially released, then you don't need a developer account.

Sorry, I just saw it's even listed in your first post's picture.

Just change your region in System Settings / General to a country where Apple Intelligence is available, then the update will appear. Don't know why Apple did this. The first beta of 15.1 could be installed with any region setting.

After installation you can change it back.

They could at least give some kind of message that the update is not available in my region.

Apple-ID doesn't matter.

It's just here where I had to change it, to get the beta 2 update. Maybe you somehow changed it after setup or it was just the language setting. I changed it back to Germany after the update.

I'm in the US, and I can't see it. Since 15.1 is based on some branch of 15.0, I believe that you would need a particular 15.0 beta version before you can install 15.1.

The same happens if you run an iOS beta on an old device, get a new device with a non-beta version of the OS installed, and try to restore a backup done on your old device with that beta. The new phone will tell you that you have to update to the beta before you can restore.

Credit to @R3locswx above for triggering that memory.
