Whenever I can't sleep, I use my iPhone to browse Instagram and Flipboard. I fall asleep within 30 minutes to an hour, depending on what I'm reading.

No...I can't sleep right now and some how I ended up back on macrumors like always. Plus all the clash of clans. My phone is not helping me sleep.

I seem to find that despite what my wife and mother on law says playing with my phone before sleep does actually help me!

It actually makes my eyes more tired therefore when I stop with my phone I'll tend to quickly fall asleep!

Sometimes. I work on a computer all day (at the office, and at home, working on personal projects etc) so when I'm laying in bed, screens are the worst thing for me. They translate into "Pay Attention".

I guess iPhones are the new Ambien/Lunesta/Melatonin.
For some that might certainly be the case. For others it might not really do anything one way or another. And for others still it can actually make sleeping harder/worse (especially with the cooler bluish color temperature of the screen).

Are there any nature apps that anyone can recommend, you know, like those nightstand clocks, that can play "shallow streams of water running, birds tweeting, and light rain showers?

Like Jessica mentioned in an earlier post, I also use Thunderspace. The various high quality nature tracks do a great job at helping me drift into sleep.
