Made these at work just now. Vinyl stickers to identify which charger is which.
I always have both of them thrown in a bag together so I figured this would be a good way to tell what is what from a quick glance.

I have a few extra sets, If anyone is interested I will mail them free of charge -while supplies last :)
Just pm me where you want them sent.

Anyone else notice the usb end is squared on the iPad charger? Thats the only way I was telling them apart till now.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the 3GS (and every prior iphone model for that matter) come with a smaller cube with non-retractable prongs? Mine did. Did they change them?

Maybe I'm wrong, but can't the iPad charger be used to charge the iPhone... I mean, I've already used it to charge my iPhone...

    Why carry two?

Ive heard mixed theories on that... No problems for you?
The two chargers I pictured have different specs... I always worried about the Ipad charger being too much for my phone..

    iPhone Charger:
    Input: 100-240v~0.15A (0,15A) 50-60Hz
    Output: 5v-1A

    iPad Charger:
    Input: 100-240v~0.45A (0,45A) 50-60Hz
    Output: 5.1v-2.1A

If u look closely, the iPad charger does say "10W" at the bottom in the fine print on the charger itself.

Yes, iPad charger works with iPhone too.

It's the voltage that decides whether it's "too much." Both are 5v chargers. The iPad version is simply capable of delivering more current.

Yeah all of the apple chargers are 'smart' so devices will only draw as much power as they need.

The original 2G iPhone had a brick similar in size to the iPad's (it also supports faster FW charging in addition to USB). The 3G and 3GS come with the smaller ones.

My 2G iPhone doesn't recognize the iPad power brick, maybe that's because it still runs 1.02 software

The iPhone 2G has more robust charging hardware, so it's likely the Firmware.
(this is why the iPhone 2G works with more legacy iPod accessories then the newer models)
