Unbelievable.

I didn't shut my computer off at all. I would just close the lid, throw it in the bag, and keep going.

I watched almost an entire live NBA game while on my 3 hour flight from NYC to Ft Lauderdale.

I would hop in and get work done in Figma, web browse, and do emails occasionally throughout the trip. I would say I probably used my computer a total of 4 hours on top of the 3 hour basketball game I watched.

And I got back to NYC yesterday with 30% left.

Apple Silicon's user experience is unmatched. Yeah, Intel's 12th gen beats it pretty handily in benchmarks, but the battery life, temperatures, and software are all terrible compared to Apple's approach of hardware and software going hand in hand together.

Yep, sane experience for me, it's amazing! I recently drove from Albuquerque, NM to Cleveland, OH (and back again) - took about 5 days each way. Only charged it when installing the 12.3 update and once again at the end of the trip.

The Heat game?

I just started working onsite for the first time since I purchased the M1 MacBook Air in Nov 2020. I don’t bother bringing a charger to work. An 8-hour day writing software and I leave work with ~65% battery remaining.

I charge my MBA m1 twice a week, not because battery is exhausted, simply to have guaranteed power during long sessions. Anyway, I am very happy with the battery life.

Took mine to Europe and when it was down to 40% left after 5 days, I thought I needed to find a way to charge up. Well no issues and my MBA came though like a champ. No charges needed until day 7 and then that was it for the last week. Heck of a horse when it comes to power. Did hear someone with an old MBP looking for an adaptor as his was dead after 2 days.

The project I’m working on is using a browser with 3D content with WebGL. That brought my 8-hour battery remaining down to ~55% where it was ~65%. While it was running, I checked on the GPU power usage with the command line powermetrics tool and it reported ~45% GPU usage @ 0.35 W. ?

M1 MacBook Air.
