I'm sorry, I can't help myself...

The mods can delete this later but I really just can't help myself!

I will be very articulate, intelligent, and mature in my response to the thread's title:

The nano does not like you.

:D

Do you own a mini?

No, I don't but before I owned any, I tried all that were available, including the mini. The mini was too small and just didn't feel quite right to me. Then again, I have pianist's hands I suppose from all those long reaches to make 5 finger chords.

The nano is tiny, but there is just something right about it, in my opinion. I'm not saying that it's right for everyone. My 40 GB iPod apparently wasn't right for many as it was discontinued early. :D

Personally i think the nano is one of the best piece of deign apple has ever come up with, including the Mac Mini. I would love to get one, but not sure if it is compatible with my computer iBook G3 300Mhz Mac OS X 10.2.8! (i know, i know, im getting a intel iBook soon! In the system requirements it says i need Mac OS X 10.3.6 to run it! what restrictions will i have, or will it just not work at all!! I not too bothered if i cant put contacts in or something like that! can i get one now, or do i have to wait till i get my Mactel iBook????

I think is uglie. I know is a technological wonder but is uglie, the black version does not seem that cool in real. Actually the desing look cheap. I got two iPod minis today even they give more problems because of the hard drive.

I do not know but the nano looks like designe from the same pareson who designed the uglie eMac and the latest iMacs.

The only thing to criticize here is your horrible grammer. The Ipod Nano has a flash drive, not a hard drive so it shouldnt give you problems there. The emac is ehh, ill give you that, but the iMac is a thing of beauty.

actually his (ahem..) grammar was quite good... spelling could use some work tough :p . Still discernible....whatever.

I know ten people here in NYC that have shelled out for the nano. Out of those ten, 3 (read: T H R E E) have broken LCDs already. (That's 30% btw) The rest of them (except for one, owned by an Obsessive-compulsive Apple zealot) look like someone took a piece of sandpaper to it. This is after two weeks, kids.

Advice: get yourself an iPod or a discounted iPod mini and buy jeans with bigger pockets. :D

i believe the guy who started this thread also BASHED the original ipod to high heavens the day it came out........your insight seems to be accurate

Uh....

I know that everyone is entitled to their opinion and I am quite surprised that someone who can't seem to spell "ugly", "design" and "person" correctly has so damn many of them. Oh, and did you mean real "life"?

Yeah...and that Jonathan Ives...(designer of most (if not all) of Apple's products) sure sucks, let me tell you. If I'm not mistaken, hasn't he won a few awards and been revered for creating some of the best looking computers/devices ever?

Everybody is entitled to their own opinion, but there are many, many people who appear to like the nano very much. I just bought one (a 4GB black) but haven't opened it yet because I don't have a screen protector or case for it yet (they are on order). Actually, I would have preferred the white (I'm just strange that way), but they didn't have any in the store; they had 2GB in both black and white though. I was going to get a mini, but the nano is just so cute, and has no mechanical hard drive to give problems. Right now though it is getting overshadowed by my new Roku SoundBridge that streams my iTunes library to my stereo in the living room. Imminently more practical for me right now, and it works great!

LOL@bigger pockets. I for one always knew what to put into those small pockets... a coin for lockers. Anyway, the iPod nano is quite a design feat but it's got less capacity than the mini. Also, it only comes with USB2 (no FW) which further impairs its usefulness. Solid's 33% of broken displays may not be wholly representative, but there seem to be some serious issues. No urge to buy here.

iMac G5's are Beautiful

My iMac G5 is crying right now. I get nothing but praise and awe when people see it. It is such a good looking computer.

The people who put down the styling of the eMac and current iMac ignore the design homage to the original Macintosh and subsequent 512k, Classic and other models from the 1980s. Put in that context, and also considering the Happy Mac icon, the styling makes perfect sense.

I like the nano.
I like the original iPod.
Never been mad about the mini though.
sure its compact, stylish and made of aluminium, but I thought its design was too far removed from the original iPod.

I stil think the 1st gen Ipod (with the buttons around the wheel) was the best looking of them all.
I wish the current iPods still looked like that.

I know I could just ignore this thread, but I've had it with people who can't spell, put together basic phrases, or bother to express themselves credibly. Sure, everybody is entitled to their opinion, but if you're going to write something, do it right. By the time you've read and tried to make sense of such maddening words, you realize you shouldn't have wasted your time.

Reading garbage like this just: a) decreases my opinion of the writer; b) makes me dismiss any point he or she is making; and c) makes me want to receive his or her resume just so I can file it in the trash can.

... and for all those who say spelling doesn't count, sorry, it does...

Ives is highly talented, highly gifted, but highly overrated. One can only use his hockey puck mouse, and early G4 keyboards to come to that conclusion. He makes great looking products that sometimes take precedence over function, ie. iPods with scratch prone materials, the mighty mouse, etc.

He does design great products too, like the G5 tower, the iPod mini, the aluminum cinema displays. It's those early plasticy fruit colored macs that get me in a tizzy.

Perhaps the reason that his earlier designs were not as focused is because he didn't have as much freedom in the early days. That or some different personnel working with him. Just a thought.

Now his affinity for polycarbonate I have to agree is a problem.

It's a shame really. I would love an updated plasticy fruit colored iMac or eMac.

I have been looking to get a nano, but I don't see a general concensus that people are completely happy with these, or that they will cosmetically hold up over time.

I would love to see a new ipod with the same design as the powerbook, about the size of the nano, but stainless like the silver mini or the lid of a pb., anyway, I'm anxious to see what happens Wed.

....3 out of 10 of your friends with broken screens, WOW! Not good.

CRD

umm...

since many of us here seem to be ethnocentric native english speakers, let's give it a rest on the spelling and grammar rampages. if my memory serves me correctly (no pun intended) mymemory is not a native english speaker. and even if he was, you don't know his background, so give it a rest. some people have problems in this area... you might suck hard at math, but it just so happens you don't have to put it out there to communicate with the general public.

bash him all you want on slamming the nano though. i *heart* my nano.

Why?

I think the purpose of this post was just to create controversy. In other words I do not believe it. Also I wonder if the posters spell checker works.
