For $200, I think the processor speed and brightness are worth it. I do think you lose a bit with the touch bar but you may enjoy it more than I have.
But with the Air you get the longer battery life, and isn't the actual display larger?

You're right; I forgot to mention the loss in battery life when you move up to the MBP. The display size is the same between both models - 13.3". The display on the MBP is brighter and has the full color gamut compared to a lesser panel on the MBA.

yeah true colors much better on MBP! I swear the display looks larger (a tad) on the air.. not sure why......

When I owned both the MBA and MBP, I had a harder time seeing the difference in color than I did with brightness. If the MBA had 500 nits of brightness, it would be a much, much more difficult decision for me. I really only noticed the color differences in the blue and red colors. But it was really more of a fancy taste sort of thing. The brightness, to me, at least, was like night and day (and this was after they updated the software to 400 nits). On the MBA, I would find myself on the regular tapping to increase brightness what I was at max.

My $.02 is the new pro is a better buy then the MBA and will more likely serve the OP longer then the MBA

I'd get the 2019 Air over the 2019 Pro just because it has function keys instead of the touch-bar.

Once the MacBook Air gets the scissor key refresh, it might return to its once legendary status.
