    Hi,

I got a strange one for you, when I unpack rar files either with UnrarX or The Unarchiver I don't get permission on the file (mkv file). My admin account get's no permissions at all. The staff group get's read only and everyone get's no permissions at all!

How can I fix this? I tried repair permissions with the disk utility didn't do a thing. Running Snow Leopard 10.6.2. And this started earlier today without me doing anything to my system or Unrarx/The Unarchiver.

add your user account with read & write privileges.

(filename.mkv > get info > click on the lock on the right bottom > add your user account > read & write)

Yes but it's annoying to do that everytime, isn't there a more permant solution?

Strangely enough, the exact same thing has started happening to me.

It seems to have happened following the updates released today.

What program are you going are you using to extract the contents of the archive?

I'm going to go repair permissions etc....

Glad It's not just me! Tried both TheUnarchiver and UnrarX, same result. Tried repairing permissions didn't help either. Don't know what to do with this one.

    Repairing permissions did nothing.

Running everything in Onyx did nothing.

Tried using Zipeg to extract the file instead of The Unarchiver and permissions were fine.

Does it happen with every mkv you unrar or just certain files, i think it might be a problem caused by the source distributor ;)

I doubt it as I used the same file for testing
