Hello everyone,

here is my activities :
- Skating
- Hiking
- Crosscountry biking
- motorbiking
- Kitesurfing

so I appreciate new technologies but I don´t know if the AW could be good for ? Everything’s the AW could, i do it with my phone, I never find the best sensor that make me purchase one.
i think the most valuable things is the notification on my wrist and I could abandone my phone.

maybe when the hydratation sensor will be release I will make the pass because I never drink water when my body need it, only with coffee and before sleeping.

Yeah it seems based on your activities you're not going to get a lot of accurate readings through the workout app, although I've found with biking I get much better results using the "Other" workout. Outside of that, I enjoy the convenience of answering calls when I don't have my phone in hand, timers with raise to speak, quick music recognition and glanceable weather. I also have a history of heart trouble so peace of mind knowing it's always monitoring. This is all using just the stock applications that come on the watch. There's a whole app store out there for adding more features.

@Bacasable cool set of activities, though it's tough to advise you on an AW without knowing what goals you have which you're hoping an AW would fulfill, and what device(s) are you currently using to try to fulfill those goals?

As you describe your need, the answer is no. Maybe other smartwatches will suit you better. I and many of my friends and acquaintances use the Apple Watch and are very happy.

That’s the dilemma, I don’t know the AW so I don’t’ know it can bring to me.
my need could be a gps tracking, speed tracking, elevation tracking, hydratation sensor, joule/watts sensor for short efforts

the fact that Apple build a perfect environment make me think the AW would be better than garming, maybe not

see my post here:

in most countries you have 14 days to try one out - and Apple encourages you to do so

Thank you, you sum up the dilemma.
As I keep my SE 5 years, I will wait until the AW have the thing to buy, that’s my pleasure to wait and bait.
I’m not ready pay so much money to a « toy » (not pejorative just my point of view)

as you help me, nobody said there is that thing that help me for my activities.

the AW is good, perfect in the mainstrean but not at all for extrem sports

Doesn't sound like the AW is a match for your needs.

The AW is first and foremost a smartwatch, serving as a communication platform and augmenting one's iPhone.

It also happens to have a decent enough set of fitness/activity related capabilities for the average / casual athlete.

While it'll do GPS, speed, and elevation tracking there's no integration to power meters etc in the stock Workout app. Other third party apps may do so though, I've not explored them.

I'd suggest you look into the Garmin or Polar or other platforms which tend to have a greater focus on athletic data.

Maybe a watch with the workoutdoor app could work for you.

it’s very well supported on this forum.

+1 for this app!
What is great about it especially for things like hiking and biking, is that it has an on-watch map which also tracks your route AND which you can export as a gpx file (if you have a need to do so).
However, it does rely on the same in-built sensors that the Apple apps use, including their inherent limitations for some types of activities.
