Interesting topic, because my experience has been exactly the same as yours despite reading posts saying that Parallels is garbage and you "can't run Windows very well." I've been working for a client these last few weeks and I need to run Windows, so I've got Parallels on my M1 MacBook Pro with 4GB RAM assigned, running the Windows 11 Insider builds.
Once activated, the updates you have to install to keep Windows active are just the usual ones managed via Windows Update, so no real hassle. I've recently installed Office and am on the Insider version of that now so I have the suite of apps including Teams all running very well indeed.
I've just installed Steam to see how that runs some games so will try that next.

Awesome. Did you see the few posts above? Parallels 17 allows us to install a non-insider version of Windows, and I and others can confirm it works! I’m cheap and trialed 17 to get the disk image, then installed it on Parallels 16 which I have a permanent license for ??. Activated without a hitch using a Windows 10 key.

If memory serves, I had to actually make an account/register first before I could do that. But, it checks out!
Not sure why mine is 1.00 GHz on an M1 Pro, but it still runs buttery smooth. Probably a fault of mine in the Parallels settings.
Will I be apple to use Windows 11 ARM for light duty with a 8GB Mac Mini M1? I didn’t realize thst I might want to use virtualization when I bought it so I didn’t get the 16GB model. Also can I use an external USB 3.2 ssd drive even though it is probably slower than the internal drive? Or is there a way to put swap space on the internal drive and the Windows 11 files and apps on the external drive? Thanks.
Anyone try this? I may want to use it for a utility software or a specific PC only video player. Thanks for your help.
Okay, I guess I’ll use the external drive for media storage and the like. I’m not sure why an external ssd is so much slower than the internal drive. Even if you use a USB-C 3.2 or Thunderbolt 3 interface, it doesn’t seem to make a difference. It may be a Mac thing but In am not sure. I read that Windows uses the disk for swap so I guess if you create the partition on an external ssd, everything will slow down.
