I don't have a perfect answer to your question. IMO, I can only think that all these stringent security checks can only help to ensure the security of air travelers. :) I guess it is "better safe than sorry." :)

Perhaps you travel as much as I do. If so, you know it's pretty much luck if those screeners catch anything. I've carried liquids, screwdrivers and whole tool kits and not been stopped and in other airports stopped because I had an empty 5 oz container in my pack. I explained the rules apply to more than 3 oz. of actual liquids or gels not containers capable of carrying more than 3 oz. Still confiscated it.

Screening is way too inconsistent with many rules that make no sense. Now scan me with tech like they had at the train station in Total Recall without giving me cancer and you've got something! :)

Cheers,

Wow. I'm amazed that you even carried those things with you on your flights.

I've always been one who complied with the laws. When they say we couldn't bring water, small metallic objects that may potentially be used as a weapon, I totally do not bring them with me in my carry-on bag & in fact totally leave them out of my baggage. Of course, sometimes there are going to be cases where I have to bring along something like a pocket screw driver (I wear glasses so having a small screw driver is convenient in case any screws on my glasses came loose) & such but I always dump them in my check-in luggage bags. :)

I mean I'm mad at all these checking that I've to go through all the time but I'm not at all mad with these security check personnel as they're just doing their jobs to ensure the safety of everyone. :)

Discussing these security checks also bring up one interesting check that I've always experienced. I wonder if you guys got this too. For some reason, I'm always asked to take off my shoes & placed them in a tray for X-ray checks. Do you guys get them every time too?

Yes, that shoe nonsense -- every single time -- is annoying as well. BTW, I don't men to carry the stuff, but it's my work backpack so my tools are in there unless i remember to take them out.

But seriously, an empty container:eek:!

Cheers,

TSA screening sucks; I accidentally had my knife on me instead of my checked bag; somehow I went through security and they didn't find it.

Another instance, I bring a nail clipper and they spent about 15 minutes asking me a zillion questions. The time they wasted, they probably missed a guy who forgot to check their knife or something.

i am sure that the screeners do some excellent work to ensure the safety of the general public- but i think part of the idea is they act as a visual deterrent to ensure we all stay safe. After all- who isn't slightly worried that the buzzer will go off when you go through the metal detector ? (or is that just me:p)

Me too! But mine was from the car into the trunk. I haven't noticed any problems yet. :(
