I feel like a complete IDIOT pre-ordering...

So I've known SEVERAL of my friends jumping into a walk-in line without pre-ordering and ended up getting more than 1 iPhone, so now practically everyone I know who was going after the damn thing, has one!

I pre-ordered mine 9 days ago and I still don't see mine for another 3 weeks....

If they had walk-ins still available, can I transfer my order from shipping in 3 weeks and just pick it up at the store today? or do I really need to wait another 3 weeks?

It kinda doesn't seem fair if they sell to walk-ins but wont sell to a pre-orders, understandable but not fair.
 
I DON'T feel like and idiot for pre-ordering because I got mine the day before release and my product is designed just fine :p
 
It looks like their stores are being fulfilled before the pre-orders. I mean, how many are produced in a day?

My O2 store has many in stock, but I can't use them, becuase I want a PAYG system.

Just go buy it in a store and cancel the pre-order.
 
I think next year I'll wait a month after it's released to buy the phone. I'm not having any of the issues that most people are having, but still.

You could do this, or if you can afford the hit on your funds you could buy in store and when the other one is delivered take it in to Apple for a return.

Or better yet, sell it for profit.
 
Yeah my 32 gig i4 is fine no issues even with the signal. Looks great performs great. Very pleased I pre-ordered got it on the 23rd never left my house.
 
Impossible. I called 10 Apple stores in my area and every one is out of stock, guess i'll have to wait until July 14th when my order ships. Maybe in the next couple weeks the Apple stores will get more stock and I can go in and cancel my pre order and get one that way. But, probably will have to wait until July 14th. I feel like Apple is going to get even more orders for the iPhone, so they probably won't be in stock at any Apple store for a month, just guessing. Ugh, I hate waiting.

me too. don't have a car, can't get to the store by commuting 6 miles, have to order online, still estimate shipping by Jul 14th, might try nearby att store 4 days later.
 
A coworker of mine got to the Apple store this morning at 6:50am and walked out with an iPhone 4 at approx 8:10am. I got to see my first iPhone 4 in person this morning. Going to be hard to wait!
 
Pre order are for suckers.

iPhone 2G? Never pre ordered, i got one
wii? Nevef pre ordered, got one.
iPad? Never pre ordered, got one. I only waited 10mins!

They always have enough stocks for Walk ins, so just walk in when the queues are over on the first day.

Erm, not if the stores don't sell what you need.
 
I walked into my Apple store just 4 hours ago and got one. They have plenty in stock and the line was only 20-30 people long, yet it still took 3 hours.
 
Went into the Apple Store at Stonebriar Mall in Frisco, TX last night at 10pm. They had 11 32GBs left, bought them all. :)
 
To be fair, pre-ordering is also for those who do not live near an Apple store. If you have a local Apple store and are not willing to stand in line you take your chances by pre-ordering. Now there are many people who don't live near an Apple store who are mad as hell because the too-lazy-to-drop-by-local-store crowd hog all the supply and they have to wait three weeks. Think about them.
 
Hey OP,

I feel for you. From what I have gathered, as long as your pre-order has not progressed to "Prepared for Shipment" status, you can cancel the order, but MAKE SURE you have ATT revert your eligability status back to being able to get the sale price, or you will be in for a nasty surpise when the Apple rep tells you how much the phone is. ATT can do this over the phone and quickly, do NOT let them tell you they can't.

So I am also idiot who pre-order and never saw status of order change since 15th - but yesterday I walked into store (around 2pm) and walked out with phone at 3:30 - now canceling pre-order.

yeah - for bitching about delays, I got free dock :)
