I only use the show desktop (F12) feature for those um special occasions.

The only time when I use a hot corner is to turn on screensaver which also activates the password protection security so I know that the contents within are safe from on lookers and such.

I have the 15" HiDef powerbook and it would be unusable without Expose'! I use it almost as much as I click on the mouse button, hot corners allow me to access the stuff on my desktop and to find a window I lost.

I am the kind of guy who never closes anything, I have always got 30+ tabs in Firefox and 15+ finder windows open for all the different projects I am working on. I might add that my poor 1.67ghz powerbook is woefully underpowered for my tasks and I am often finding the rainbow ball of death lingering where my cursor should be...

Most of the time I find Exposé neat but not essential...

But when I end up opening lots of images to make a panorama shot or play around with a 'collage', it really comes into its own.

I'll still champion X-Assist whenever I can, in the hope that Apple will put it back into OSX. Better for switching applications and I just discovered today that it can also change the window behaviour so that clicking on an app window bring all that particular app windows to the front not just one.

As for panoramas I use photoshop's Window>Arrange>Tile (there's also a match zoom)

I just use Exposé to show the desktop.
