hi all

i have been loveing the iphone 11 i find the 6.1 screen size to be the sweet spot for me how about any one else ? the iphone 11 pro 5.8" screen size is a little small and the screen size of 6.5 of the iphone 11 pro max is too big the screen size of the iphone 11 is this right just like the goldilock and the three bears

I tend to agree with you, but have not yet bought an XR or 11. Always find myself talked into the higher spec’d phones.

I am issued an XR for work and do like the size.

5.8 seems to be perfect for me with the X that I use. However, I prefer to try and do everything on my MacBook with it's real keyboard.
When my Mac broke for 6 days in November, I realised that no matter what the size of an iPhone / smart phone, it would never be a replacement for my Mac which lead me to think that a larger phone for me would be truly useless and cumbersome.

Having just spent Christmas and NYE in Paris, it's incredible how popular the smaller sized iPhones are in Paris. I'd love a iPhone 12 Pro with a 5.4" screen TBH but i'm not happy about a 6.!" screen size. Each to their own I guess.

If next years 12 Pro is 6.1 like rumored I'll be joining you. I'd prefer a 5.8 but I definitely wouldn't want 5.4...

While I definitely understand the logic, and I could see why 6.1 would be the sweet spot... The Xr/11 is too chunky.

This is why I think Apple has decided to do a "Pro" 6.1 inch. It'll be interesting to see.

The only reason the XR & 11 are that successful is because of the price, not the screen size.

If the screen sizes, specs & prices of the XR & 11 were swapped with the XS & 11 Pro, then the latter two would be the most sold models...

Apple have seemingly used these sales as justification for killing off the 5.8”, which isn’t accurate imo...

Ralfi is correct. It has nothing to do with the screen size with preference. It has everything to do with the price point. The 2018 XR was completely sold out in my carrier through the holidays, where as the 2019 11 was plentiful in stock with every color/storage available.

Why was the 2018 XR sold out? Because these phones all do the same thing, and the price is the main attraction. Consumers don’t care about the latest features.

It'll be a typical cash grab by Apple as the 5.4 inch will probably not include 5G and the like. Meanwhile, the 6.1 Pro will be the "real" entry level Pro model.

All for just a few dollars more 😂

Samsung executives probably made the same assumption you did, but their sales numbers proved them wrong.

For Samsung, the 5.8" S10e was their least popular product in the S10 family, even though it was the cheapest at $749. The S10+ was the most popular. Keep in mind the S10+ has a physical form factor size that most closely resembles the iPhone XR/11.

I think it's simplistic to assume consumers go purely for price once we look at premium handsets over $700.

Wouldn’t that be because there are so many Android competitors at that price now?

The S10+ was the most popular.

At that price, Android shoppers would be looking for the most reliable, well built & overall solid spec’d model, with decent after sales support, so the Samsung’s become the best option.

There’s nothing competing with the iPhone XR/11, so being that “cheap” & a modern iPhone (Face ID era) pretty much guaranteed their success, no matter what screen size they had.

My 2c.

It might be the phone’s price that hits the sweet spot, not the screen size. 😋 XR is the cheapest modern-tech phone. I am surprised with so many iPhone 7 activations, according to your graph. But then again, iPhone 7 can run iOS 13 just fine and remains a very capable and affordable option.

I recently went to the 11 while my X still has trade-in value (Battery needs service, Apple store couldn't replace). I'm still not quite comfortable with the bigger screen (and bezel affects it) when stretching thumb.

But I was too upset with the non-repair that I didn't want to go to the 11 Pro at this time. I had been planning to wait to see how the 5G phones looked fall 2020.

I would say consumers are perhaps looking at price before screen size. It’s no surprise the XR and 11 are selling well when they are £300-500 cheaper than the iPhone 11 Pro. The XR saw a huge spike in demand over Xmas where I am as the deals were excellent and sim free was £499 in some places. That wasn’t suddenly people deciding they wanted a 6.1” device.

I loved the plus sized phones and really wanted the XS Max but I’m done spending 1k on phones for now and the screen size of the 11 was perfect for me. I get all the spec stuff but idc much anymore. So I agree with the OP.

I'm liking the 6.1" screen on my 11 too (coming from 4.7" land with the 6s and then the 8). I'm hoping with the rumored switch to OLED on all the "flagship" iPhones next year that there will be a 6.1" iPhone with thinner bezels (at least inline with the current Pros) - that would make it just about perfect!

I bought the pro because of the 5.8 screen. If everything was equal between the 5.8, 6.1 and 6.4 phones I would still buy the 5.8. I prefer 5.8 because it’s the smaller device.
