Someone posted this on another site, so I decided to link it here.

Say, do you think Bunnspecial would be all over this one?

You would want to hire a team just to get them all up and running.. Then, what do you do with 150 G3 iMacs?

Sell them for $100 each and you'd still be sitting on a $12k profit ;)

Just make sure you get permission from the wife first or else you might be joining them in a storage locker.

If this was local to me, I'd try and cherry pick 3 or 4 sets of the 5 different colors, keep one and sell the others for $300 a pop. I think on ebay a complete set of imac g3s in general good condition would fly to collectors with some cash to burnn especially if they could pick up locally and forgo shipping those boat achors.

Talk about a one stop shop :D

Hmm...shake out the couch cushions and try to find $3K...

Go rent a storage building...

Don't think it's happening-if it's still up in a few weeks I may contact the guy and see if he'll let me cherry-pick.

Good thinking. Save those iMacs!

No iMac G3 is worth $300. I wouldn't try that, because it will then cause lame speculators to drive up the perceived value of these machines. It already has happened with lots of other Macs.

Would be cool to possibly obtain 5 flavors, though.

I meant a set of 5 clean iMacs (one of each color) for $300, not per single iMac. That puts them at around $60 a pop individually - a healthy 200% markup over my cost of $20 per unit netting $600.

$1500 for the set?!? That’s funny :D

Yeah, sorry - I read your post quickly and thought that you meant a single iMac when you said, "a pop." Excuse my mistake.

What's sad is that speculators will make the iMac G3 "worth" $300, in a number of years. I'm sure of it. *OMG, L@@K RARE STEVE JOBS BLUEBERRY I-MAC*

I'd like a few of these, especially any slot loaders - for spares, just for the CD drive in an attempt to find a serviceble one - which is improbable. Wouldn't pay more than pocket-money though - max $15.

I often check out the ads for the Ruby G3 iMac (behind closed doors of course - with nobody looking over my shoulder;)), and they do appear to be fairly scarce compared to all the other colours.
Just seen a Ruby here in France listed at 180euros ($US208). Needless to say I wouldn't pay anywhere near that price. In comparison - and far more difficult to find - my iMac Dalmation and Flower-Power each cost half that.
The other ad this week which made me blink a few times was this:

iMacG3Boxed.jpg

1999 Imac G3, perfect condition for collectors, little used. With its original box and all accessories containing mouse, keyboard, mouse pad, cd player & connection cables. With external CD drive & CD's. Price 769euros!!
(Wait for it.................) only a cool $US890.
And this is for an iMac that I have little doubt is not completely functional, which is probably why it's offered with an external drive. The photo shows the iMac is a slot loader, and these CW7121 model drives (which I term 'squeeze-roller' type) are notoriously unreliable. I should know as I've tried to resurrect quite a few (like the equally unreliable Cube G4 SR-8186 model CD/DVD drive) - which I've also lost sleep over when attempting to refurbish.
As a side issue, only last week I was successful in resurrecting a defective CW7121 model drive from a G3 iMac to install in my G4 Cube. Will give details in a further post.

My wife would kill me with an iMac G3 over the head in the middle of the night. She’s upset with the one iMac 233 that is sitting in the living room waiting to go to bunnspecial.

As suspected, this listing went without a bid. Either space is a real issue or I wonder what prompts people to bid almost as much on a single iMac.
