Kinda bear with me here...
OK...I get my phone X next week. I presently have the iPhone 7 Plus. My wife has the iPhone 6 Plus.

On my iPhone 7 Plus I run beta iOS, 11.2 beta 3 presently. My wife does not run beta and is on iOS 11.1

So here are my questions
1. For her to get my iPhone 7 Plus, I'll clear (erase) my iPhone 7 plus and then set it up with a back up from her last back from her iPhone 6 Plus...will the fact that my iPhone 7 Plus with beta software cause a problem for her since her backup was done with iOS 11.1? If so, how do I remedy that?

2. I'll do my backup when my new iPhone X arrives next week. But since my backup will be with iOS 11.2 beta 3 and the iPhone X will only have 11.0.1...is this gonna be a problem?

Confusing I know...maybe someone can understand my confusion. Thanks.

1. I don't think you'll have a problem doing this. What would people do if they are coming from an older iOS device that iOS 11 doesn't support? When you restore from the backup, your old 7 Plus will still be on the beta but if your wife doesn't want to use the beta's you can just uninstall the profile and she'll be back on the regular releases with the next software update.

2. I don't own an X, but I'm fairly certain you will need to upgrade the X to the same beta in order to restore from your backup. This was a problem for people on launch day because there was no beta available for the X, so they couldn't restore. You'll most likely need to set it up as new, install the beta profile, update to the beta and then restore if from your backup.

You are doing it wrong, wife should get the newest and husband gets the used hand-me-down.
Not too late to order her an X for X-Mas!

To the OP: This is how we rock it in our house. Bump down time, every year.

I said to the family, I can get the iPhone 8 this year. The resounding NO, get the X, was deafening.

A beta is a beta. Apple is always signing stock firmware while their beta is out. Just restore to whatever stock firmware is out st the time. Before she transfers her accounts.
