:( My refurb Blackbook that I got last week only came with 1GB of memory. But luckily for me it was 1- 1GB Chip and I had an extra 1GB chip laying around from my iMac!
 
my refurb Mini came with 1Gb instead of 512 and a super drive too instead of combo.....
 
That is a known problem for the macbooks that Apple has refused to fix.


So I had the same chirping sound on my powerbook G4 and my girlfriend's Macbook (latest revision). Turning down the volume solved it in both cases (for me at least)- I'd say it's intentional on Apple's part.

I've been wondering what that noise was. Oh well, doesn't really bother me.

Turing down the volume lessens but doesn't remove the problem. Trying the same thing on macbook pros does not produce the chirp.
