After lurking on the boards for awhile I jumped the gun today and got myself a 13" Macbook Pro for college! I must say the boards have helped a lot and the staff at the Apple Store are really really kind. Anyways, just sharing my happiness...

I didn't see the sticky thread, sorry.

How are you going to transfer the data from the stock drive to the new one? Get an enclosure for the stock drive and clone it. (You should've added one to your newegg order.)

hey congrats on your new purchase, i just bought one today as well. i dont mean to hijack your thread, but i was wondering what your fan speeds are, as well as your hard drive temps? you can view this if you have the istat pro widget. i am currently running mail and safari and i am at 38 degrees on my hard drive, but 76 at my cpu. fans are running at 3500. is this higher than usual?

Congrats on your new uMBP :D

Also, I'm sure the parts you've purchased will work just fine on your new uMBP 13-inch, may just want to hang on to your spare parts just in case - for warranty and such.

You don't think links look purple on macrumors?

i guess they do look purple/blue. when i zoom in i can tell they are more purple than blue though. i just havent done my reading and dont really know how to calibrate it and what not. any advice?

Hey can you please explain this process? My order failed on Newegg so I'm making another order tomorrow! Thanks

Can you tell us what screen you have?

I'll check when I turn it on for the first time tomorrow!

I also love my 13 inch macbook pro. this thing kicks the hell out of the previous sony vaio i had. never going back to that headache.

Since I have a 13" Pro I was curious about this screen thing too - followed the location of where to find the info but my screen model is blank in there! :O Should I be concerned?

Crap I just realized I should have posted this on the sticky thread. Well to make it a bit more constructive...I just ordered these two items from Newegg:

Crucial 4GB DDR3 RAM

They should work without a hitch on the Macbook right?

Those are the exact same two things i just got for the 13" macbook pro that I haven't bought yet. Does anyone know if I have to register for classes to get the student discount or will the acceptance letter work?

Acceptance letter should suffice; it suffices where I work (school bookstore). I've got stuff from an Apple student with the student discount before, too (without showing any form of student ID which I didn't possess at the time anyway, but I think that has more to do with the employee I was talking to and less to do with Apple's in-store policies).

Acceptance letter works. Or if you buy online, no real proof is required.

All I did was show my acceptance letter and they smiled and said congrats and gave me the discount.

I have the 00009C9F, anything I should be concerned about?

No, I think thats the good one. Besides if you have to ask if there is something wrong, chances are there isn't. If you had a bad screen you would KNOW there was something wrong with it just by looking at it. Like mine, all the blue links looked purple. It was so weird.

I'm thinking about ordering online, then maybe I'll get a better screen.

Since my order failed on Newegg...should I wait for the new SSDs from Intel coming in about 2 weeks? Or just stick with the Scorpio Black?
