Awesome machine eh? Congrats on the new machine, you'll love it. :D

I'm really looking forward to picking up one of the 24" LED displays for my machine, what I saw in the store was very impressive!

AWESOME pix... I don't think I'd have the patients to...
Open cardboard box.... take picture,
Remove MBP box.... take picture,
Lift lid of MBP box.... take picture...... etc etc etc.....

I give you credit, you enjoyed the moment..... Great shots, enjoy it. May you have many happy years together !!

Normally I wouldn't either to be quite honest. I think it was this long drawn out soap opera that lead me to it...it was a bit anticlimatic, maybe I was gun-shy from the scam. My wife thought I was nuts taking the photos, it was tough. Everything was all good when I fired it up though and enjoyed that OS X intro for the very first time!

It was a good moment though, very tantric. :D

Ah, what a heartwarming story! :p Only a true Apple fanatic can be moved by that. We become so attached to our Macs, past and present. I will miss my trusted iBook G4/1.33 GHz that I've had for over 3 years and am selling, but my new MacBook Pro with additional side orders arrives Thursday, so this was good to hear... especially after all the reported problems people have supposedly been having with them (as in the other threads).

Keep us posted if you have any of the "known issues". I"m already a bit paranoid and I don't get mine for another 36 hours!

Honestly, knowing about the "issues" is good and all, so you know what to look for but don't let it bug you. Keep in mind the people posting here are upset but def in the minority. The majority are happy owners who have no reason to complain.

So far I don't seem to have the usual problems. The "f" keys are slanted a bit but they work fine and its not enough to bug me (and trust me the little thing do bug me) so I'm not worried about that at all. Doesn't appear to be any dust under the screen. I did the pixel test and couldn't see anything wrong. Its only the 2nd day now but so far so good. I do have a sound issue only when listening to headphones so it may have to go in for a repair. It doesn't come out of the speakers so hopefully its just a minor fix w/ the jack. The trackpad/cursor response is a bit buggy but that apparently is a software issue and will be dealt w/ shortly w/ an OS patch.

My experience gives me 100% confidence that if ANYTHING needs to be fixed Apple will do the right thing and make you happy. I have no doubt about that whatsoever and that alone should put your mind at ease. You have nothing to worry about, let us know how it turns out later this week! :)

Thanks man. To be honest, being an avid Mac guy for 12 years that's what I was thinking too, but it's nice to hear someone like-minded for affirmation. No matter what and if under warranty, it has to get worked out one way or the other.

I heard somewhere that if it is less than 2 weeks old you can get an "exchange" at an Apple retail store. Any truth to that?

Absolutely, even if its purchased online you have 14 days. Thats more than enough time to know if you have made the right purchase and provides some peace of mind.

I've been an avid Mac user for 12 years myself too, my first machine was a good one - PowerMac 7600/120. :)
