You know with the rumors about Intel supplying slower modems on the iPhone X2 because of the failed deal with QUALCOMM would make me glad I went with an X, rather than wait for the less expensive version with slightly slower internet modem. IF this turns out to be true.

Naturally this is a rumor and we don’t know the actual modems going inside the new phones, there’s a chance they will be upgraded modem speeds from Intel.

I know the X is expensive but it is a well overbuilt premium phone. Congrats, Enjoy!

I have an X and I love it, but when it comes to the modems and cellular internet speeds it's actually a complicated issue. For the current X, the Verizon and unlocked model does indeed have the faster Qualcomm modem. However, Apple slows down the Qualcomm version so that there is more parity with the Intel version.

The iPhones coming out in September are supposed to have improved antenna design that will support 4x4 MIMO which should mean they will have significantly faster cellular internet speeds then the current model. Some current Android phones already support this and they smoke the iPhone X.

Well said. iPhones supporting 4x4 MIMO can’t release soon enough. My signal has been getting worse so I’m hoping once I can move to an iPhone with 4x4 MIMO I’ll have a phone I can use again.

4x4 MIMO on the new iPhones (Intel) will be significantly faster than the current Qualcomm offered now on your X. It might matter to some that the newest Qualcomm chip will be faster than the newest Intel offering but I’m betting the difference is unnoticeable

I've had both for 7 months; the X being a daily driver, the 8 more of a backup device.

TBH the X has given me more problems, but perhaps that's because I use it twice as much.

I’m glad to hear what you guys are saying after I read this....

Keeping up with the Joneses is good for competition .

Congrats again to the thread starter on his X, he still will not be let down, it’s an awesome phone and sports the new UI so he won’t feel outdated with an 8 and home button when the new phones come out. :D

Not much difference between the intel and Qualcomm modems about 5 Mbps variation in real world tests.
Someone did a test between a a google pixel xl 2 that has a Qualcomm modem and an iPhone X.

The new iPhone X modem will be much faster the last years Qualcomm.

This X is awesome! I am very happy with it so far. Its like night and day to me. Thats all.
Except its pronounced "ten" so saying "an X" is wrong as you'd be saying "an 10" ..."a X" would be correct.

In seriousness, I did the same thing, and I find myself missing my 8 plus, especially the battery life.

iPhone X2
Wouldnt be called the X2,. "Ten Two"...

yes I am aware of this and totally fine with that. I knew someone would point it out. So you get a sticker. ;-P

Dude, once you get over the rush of getting a new phone, just return it. The new iPhones are literally coming out in September (tomorrow is August). You can convince yourself over and over that you don't care but once the new phones hit in a month, you're going to be full of regret.

I’ve noticed a difference with the Intel vs Qualcomm modems.

Lost signal most of the time at my grandma’s with the Intel modem. Qualcomm held a constant signal that was usable. I have Verizon.

I love my iPhone 10. It’s the perfect phone for me. Perfect size. Perfect battery life that I need. Everything that I wanted in an iPhone in the past, I now have. Apple’s just going to make small changes to the next generation and make it look like it’s a huge change when it really won’t be. Plus I don’t have another $1,000 to shell out for another iPhone if I wanted to upgrade. I don’t miss the home button or the big bezels at all. The bezels really bothered me.

I just wish Apple would give the 10 more abilities that the OLED screens can offer, like notifications coming up but the rest of the screen is off. That would be awesome but I don’t expect them to do that.

Why? It’s a down grade with the screen

First off, Apples LCD displays are very good. But not everyone cares about the OLED display, I would say the new form factor and Face ID is a _major_ impact on what the consumer wants. Additionally, I think the iOS experience takes over once the hardware euphoria wears off.

I cannot think I will have regrets at all, for one I do not want to start over with the payments all over again.

I had a the X and sold it a couple months ago. I liked it but didnt LOVE it and I wanted to save some money so i went back to my 7+. I didnt realize how hard it would be going back to that old design and bulk of the Plus. I do prefer TouchID to FaceID in certain situations but thats about it. I saw a good deal on Swappa and ordered a new one a few weeks later and been happy ever since. I mostly likely will keep this for at least another year. I dont see what else Apple can add this year that would make me want to upgrade and the bigger X plus doesnt interest me I think the size now is perfect.
