It looks terrible why are the menus not aligned yet but on some menus they are.

Apparently, any menu with a check mark gets offset so the menu words line up with the left of the menu title. With the check it pushes it to the left. Looks even weirder because the menus are no longer connected to the menubar for some reason. I'm really disappointed with the seemingly random changes to the UI which do nothing to help but actually DECREASE usability. The flatness and monochrome window buttons, sliders and other elements is killing me. Apple Mail which I'm in all day every day is virtually unusable just because of these UI changes.

I really hope someone will come to the rescue with a UI reface application or something to bring back color and distinction between elements.

Wow I thought this was a bug. Didn't realize it was intentional. For some reason they wanted the first letter of each option to line up with the word on the menu bar. Very stupid design.

Big Sur definitely seems rushed I can't believe they are releasing it tomorrow. They didn't even bother to update the calculator past it's design last used in iOS 10. Even though the icon shows circle buttons.

why does the calculator need to be updated? am much more concerned that my apps work... (& so far, they do)...
Consistency. If you read the rest of the thread you would know this is a thread about design not functionality. Plenty of other threads for that.

At a smaller size, the round buttons probably communicate "button" better than square buttons do.

there are 4 posts before mine, so yes, i did read them. and i stand by my comment. i care about the GUI, i care about functionality first. and the calculator (to me) looks fine....
