And I hate swiping down from the top right horn on iPhone XS Max to get Control Center.

What the ACTUAL F*~^.

Steve has to be rolling in his grave.

...

Yes, I know the dumb “Reachability” maneuver. It works about 1 out of 7 tries: either I fail to engage Reachability or the Notifications Center comes down despite me stretching my giant man-hand as far as I can in a vain attempt to get Control Center.

Apple needs to give us the option to turn on the 3D touch app-switching gesture, let 3D touch swipe-up be the home screen, and let a regular swipe-up be the Control Center. NOW!!!!!!!

If I'm not mistaken, the XR doesn't have 3D Touch. So per your suggestion, having a 3D touch swipe-up would only be on the X, XS and XS max. Then if you picked up a XR, you'd have to access control center a different way. This seems like it would be a bit confusing having to remember all of the different ways to access it.

I find it hard to either agree or sympathise with you on this.
Having used a X for the last year, I have no issue with the UI at all.
Surely you must've known this was coming, as all the phones were going to be a buttonless full-screen affair?

I doubt very much that DEMANDING changes on a forum will get you anywhere...maybe email Tim Cook? He'll likely give you an answer, but unless you're considered, polite and reasonable with your request, you're unlikely to get an answer you like.

But they do not. So deal with it or get another phone.

I’ve no issue with screen or colour but I do agree that the position of Control Centre and Reachability could be improved. Especially Reachability that’s supposed to ease one handed use, but on my Max, needs two hands to activate.

I don't think its a big deal, but yes it could be improved. On my jailbroken X I can swipe up from the bottom right corner and activate control center. Swipe up from the middle for notification center. It works really well. I could see Apple not wanting to add the middle swipe, but the swipe from the bottom right could easily be implemented I think.

You know who’s fault it is that you bought a phone that’s too big for your hands?

Yours.

I would love something like this.. CC is my biggest complaint with the new line up of phones.. I used it a good bit for controlling things in my house like hue bulbs and casting videos to my Apple TV... changing output of audio to my AirPods.. etc.

The placement of CC is definitely not as accessible as before. And when they did the same thing on the iPad — are you kidding me?! There was nothing wrong with it being in the app switcher. I liked that design.

White would look ugly as the iphone x series have so many sensors(holes) at the top, and it would look unsightly. They made the right choice with the black front. It gives a seamless look. Most other phone companies are also putting a black front only ever since the bezeless trend started. Any other color would be tacky to be honest.

Not too late to return your phone and get a regular XS you know.

Wait, you think a 3D Touch up-swipe from the bottom of the phone would work? Have you used 3D Touch? If you are finding a down swipe so hard that only ‘one in seven’ reachability attempts work then I think you might struggle with a 3D Touch swipe.

Also, google mockups of the X with a ‘white front’, it looks abysmal, and would make our late friend Steve rotate at 3600rpm

I suggest you buy a smaller phone if it’s too hard for you to reach the top. Or maybe use both hands, that’s why you have 2.

I find I get 100% success when the phone is caseless or in an Apple case, but when the case has a bottom lip I occasionally flub it

Weird. My X had a bumper but it is relatively thin. Never been an issue. I see how it could be an issue with an OtterBox or life-proof, but is that really on Apple?

I finally went with silver just because it has a black front. I always bought space gray phones because there’s no way I’d get the white front phones. Always want the black front.

To be fair, I had the Apple leather case on my X for the last year and I’ve only had the Spigen UltraHybrid for 5 days on the Max so maybe it just takes getting used to.
