If you think the applications are that bad, how do you think the course work is gonna seem if you get accepted?

Shhhhh....don't burst their bubble....

Yet... ;)

Err, or imagine writing a report for your scholarship sponser when you haven't any accomplishments to show!

It's not the work that I mind -- I don't mind working hard -- it's just tedious and frutrating.

is anyone else here doing the MIT app? I am curious what program u mentioned that u would like to do there

it's not getting in, it's finding a place to stay when you're in if your school doesn't have a dorm... :( I have been in university for a month and stil can't find a place to rent, Milan is so expensive...

I chose the EECS (Electrical Engineering and Computer Science) and said I just want to further my coding abilities. Basically all I really need out of college.

I did send them a game design document and some screenshots of games I did help work on to look a little less retarded.

MIT is probably going to shoot me down :D

10 applications is pretty bad, not to mention that you will be dropping like $600 in application fees. Where are you applying?

I am a senior as well and have my sights on a college horizon. It was kind of easier for me because my sights are more specific. I will be studying film so it would be either NYC (preferred) or LA. Although, it is annoying because pretty much every school I am applying to has a supplemental application and I am also applying to a bunch of art schools that need a portfolio. I have done one so far, and have a ton of deadlines do... tis crunch time.

Anyway, here is my list, If I get in to any of the top two I will be mega-super-happy, I have wanted to go to school in NYC forever.

College List:

Columbia University - General Studies Program
New York University - Tisch School of the Arts
Art Center (Pasadena California)
Chapman University - Film Program
School of Visual Arts - New York City

My grades are decent, but my SAT scores are mediocre which is what I am worried about for NYU which loves that stupid test more than anything. We shall see though... I have been working really hard on my 500 word essay for NYU but I still have a four page one for Tisch and a 2000 word essay for Columbia.

where is everyone else applying?

Those are some GREAT schools. Good luck!! I'm also applying to NYU, but to Steinhardt (as a Communication major). I definitely feel you on the "crunch time." What's your top choice? NYU? I really, really want to go to NYU. I visited the school in October and fell in love with it. I'm worried too; I can't afford it so I'll need some serious financial aid (otherwise I would have done Early Decision). I'm finishing up the NYU short essays, and I may do a rewrite of another one for the 500 word essay that's more creative.

I'm applying to these colleges:
University of Georgia (but I've already been accepted here...so I'm happy for that!)
Georgia Tech
University of North Carolina (my #2 school)
Tulane
Boston University
Emerson College
NYU
Cornell
University of Cincinnati (accepted and might get a full ride)
Washington University in St. Louis

The best of luck to everyone here!!

I guess you just have to decide what location you want.. IE big city/smaller city, warm/cold climate... cause those are all very good schools.

Moreso for undergrads, and it depends on the department. NYU has the top ranked philosophy department in the world, and if you apply to the department as a grad student they'll barely even glance at your test scores (or your grades) from what I understand.

I know Cornell is a hard admit, but I think you'd love it. My fiancee did her undergrad and doctorate (Veterinarian) at Cornell, and not only did she get a great education, but she loved her eight years there. After she finished her DVM, she sent out 13 applications, got 11 interviews and seven job offers. That's what the school at the top of your resume can do (especially when combined with a field that's in a hiring frenzy).

I spent four years in Ithaca while she was a grad student -- the restaurants are great, the landscape is beautiful, and the people are (generally) kind. Lots of snow, but that can be pretty, too.

Let us know what college you choose!
