I hate having to click the checkmark to save screenshots

I do a lot of screenshots and absolutely hate having to conform I want to save it with the check mark and save to phots. Two steps that shouldn't be needed. Is there a way to go back to the old way of taking the screenshot then nothing else required.

Settings/General/screen capture, turn off full screen previews. This will turn it back to the way it was. (I did the same as I was in the same boat as you)

You can also just swipe up from the home bar.

Agreed. It is so minor it's ridiculous, but incredibly annoying.
