edit: btw, whats 'crushing'? and i have no problems using any of the 65+ apps that are on my powerbook
Crushing is what you do with the empty beer cans.

Of course if the crushing PowerBook smells like last weeks trash can full of empty beer cans, then he has a really bad problem.

Or a small pet that uses the PB as a litterbox.

Changed to mac and got an expensive useless hardware... which crushes, had to reinstall, I even get powershocks when I don't use the long grounded cable; can't use many programs, my printer goes slower, I get static discharges (course i got an aluminum design ) which I've never had on toshiba, ibm or packard bell laptops. I can't install tiger because of incompatibilities with classic... whish i could get my money back and but a PC

For sale.- faulty pb 15" 1gb ram piece of expensive sh*t

My 12" (bought 11/2003) had an HD that went bad three months after I bought it. Had it replaced and haven't had any other problems with it (especially after I gave it to my sister ;-) Waiting on WWDC to purchase a new PB).

Seriously, had the one problem with the HD and since than neither I, nor my sister has had any problem.

So, Apple does sell the occasional lemon, but can be repaired.

Sounds like a troll to me...

C'mon, mate--if you're looking for sympathy, it's in the dictionary between "*****" and "syphillus"!

My god, are you SURE you bought a Mac computer? Sounds like someone sold you a Gateway with an Apple logo on it. The description sounds oddly familiar.

Raven, I love your Avatar, it always makes me chuckle.

Please for the sake of all that is good..PROOFREAD!!!

I think maybe you should but a pc as well.

...Frantically rereads thread before posting...

1/ It's PROOF READ not PROOFREAD
2/ Second sentence I believe you meant to use the word "buy" rather than "but".
3/"re-read" not "reread"

Agree with the sentiment though !!

PS: Only having a bit of fun, honest!

sorry.

that sounds bad. it hasn't happened to me and im around numerous macs. worse thing that happened to me was the mid plane replacement on an imac but that was fixed no problem. i know it doesn't help but hang in there. it will sort itself out.

Hmmm -

May I suggest contacting Apple, so they can send a nice courier out to your home OR your work (hey - they'll pick up from ANYWHERE you wish!), and have it repaired FOR FREE under their AppleCare plan (which is standard for the first year, before you have to purchase support for the following two years)? After which, they will return to you a very healthy PowerBook...

Very seldomly, a Mac slips through the "grid", and unfortunately ends up with the consumer. But that is why there's a decent repair/replace programme. I, too, would complain bitterly if no such plan is in place. However, they're there to help - and will repair or replace your "lemon" without fuss.

That's what they do.

Give them a chance.

After all - would you rather be stuck with a computer you can't use for the rest of your days, or one that will be FIXED within days?

THEN may I suggest getting a book like "Mac OSX for Dummies" (and NO - I'm NOT implying you're thick. Those books are brilliant, and very funny to boot. It's a known fact that you tend to retain information if it's entertaining - i.e. I have the sad ability of being able to recite Monty Python skits verbatim, because I enjoyed them. But I digress...). It'll cover all the things you need to know about your OS, it's interface and some programs that you may come across.

There will certainly be other books that forum members can advise you upon, so you're certainly in the right place for help.

Finally, may I suggest to use this forum to ASK FOR HELP and ADVICE, and not to just log on and Mac-Bash? We can all offer assistance with problems you face, and can even steer you in the right direction in the search for programs that are OSX-native, as opposed to your current selection of OS9 ones...

:)

Eh... sounds like a

to me. However, if you are really having problems, I'm sorry you had to be the one to experience them. However, it does sound like you're asking for these problems... ask and you shall receive. :)

I'll buy that PowerBook off of you for $350. :p

Since another poster took your first point, I'll take this one: He was referring to the original poster who used 'but' instead of 'buy'.

Well he hasn't replied. I also call flame bait. Pretty good really, he fooled a bunch of us.

It would seem that way. It's as if he read various reports and combined them all into one post. I'd be having a good laugh, if I were reading the various replies--esp. the vehement ones.

has anyone else noticed the symbolism between their personality and the personality of their mac's and how they operate and respond to how we as the user, uses/treats them (i know this is figurative, but bear with me)

it seems most duds, end up with dud mac's

it seems most angry users end up with angry mac's

it seems most irrational users end up with irrational acting mac's

it seems most impatient users end up with really impatient mac's

im sure if his mac had a voice, it would be as critical in what it has to say about its him.

Come on guys, how can you fall for this?
This guy doesn't even own a Mac.

I know no one that has had this many problems with one computer, PC or Mac.

My Power Mac G5 is extremely talented, elegant, athletic, polite, handsome, clever, hard-working, and modest.

Brillant and true.

this is the weekly i hate something about mac post.

try to get a refund then, try to get tech support, try to take a remedial english class - learn grammar and spelling.

there's a huge group of people willing to provide tips and support in these forums, maybe try that first. they can often answer questions, or troubleshoot problems since we've all likely experienced some type of glitch in our mac use over the years.

maybe there should be a study in to the deterioration of the human brain after using windows for long periods of time - seems to have adverse affects on the user's ability to spell, form complete sentences and rational thoughts.

oh and, troll.

He's got a point :-

1) MAC's can't browse the internet
2) MAC's are incompatible with microsoft office
3) MAC's don't allow you to read email
4) MAC's are usually static, hence his static comments
5) MAC's are pretty boring really

Anything else MAC's can't do ?
