OK, so I have had this about a month now and it's disgusting. I just hate the dang thing !!!!! This thing has let me down almost EVERY DANG DAY I have used it. I am not sure if I can live with it this way.

WHY ?????????

I have tried so hard to find something wrong with it BUT I am unable to. :p

So in that respect it has let me down!

In the unlikely event I find a problem, I'm sure Apple will take care of it.

If it lasts as long as my last notebook ( G4 Powerbook - which I handed down to my son who uses it for school ), and is as problem free ... I'll be happy!!!

I'm surprised you bought a macbook pro since your signature says you now "live off the grid". A MBP connected to the internet is definitely on the grid if you ask me.

Glad you are pleased with it--most people come on here to complain. ;)

OMG not a hoax

Did you hear what they did to the hoaxers

...

Have faith child.... its your only hope!

I tend to agree, Every time i pick up a powerbook at work i get a jealous twinge. Unibody isnt the safest strongest sweetest apple product out there at the moment, i loved it at first though.. i guess its a case of too much of one good thing.

I had read so many negative posts about various problems with the MBP 17", (especially the "Anti-glare" debates), I almost expected my MBPu to burst into flames as soon as I removed it from the box.
Alas, it has run flawlessly, every horror story told did not happen to me. I have no heat problems, my battery is great, all my third party products and softwares run seamlessly and faster than ever before, the keyboard is a pleasure to type on, the "Anti-glare" screen a blessing in my many-windowed environment, my superdrive recognizes any disc i put in it and burns flawlessly, My magisafe cord is safe and secure...I haven't even slit my wrists on the edges, (though Lord knows I tried), I just don't know how this got off the build line in this condition!
I knock on wood as I say this, but my MacBook Pro is a winner, and I think most all of them out there are. Glad to share my tragic tale with you...we have much in common....;)

Well to clarify the 'off the grid' statement.

One can be 'off the grid', and still on the internet.

"The grid " refers to commercial electrical power grid. We are heavily invested in systems that reduce, and in some months eliminate of use of commercial power.

Where we used to average $250/month electric bill, we are now at a point where $50 is a high bill. This would be summer month when central a/c is run often.

It's not a cheap prospect initially and there are upkeep costs, but at some point we look to have no electric bills at all. Can we get there? I don't know. But if you would have told me 2 years ago we would go from $250 to $50 and not have to make major changes in how we live I would have called you crazy.

Even as it is now ..... lights, refrigerator, computers, internet, television are NOT on the commercial circuits.

My Macbook Pro uses less energy than my iMac so it is now the primary computer!

Just install Vista on it via bootcamp if you want a problem...

had vista on my desktop for a while and never ran into a problem. if you know what you are doing with your box, all should be kosher. only reason i downgraded to XP was because my recording equipment drivers ran better on the 32bit OS and seemed to like it better. dunno what your problem is...

Ah, thought when you said "off the grid" I thought you mean't a sarcastic expression of dropping out of society to a degree--ala Into the Wild or Call of the Wild. :) I stand corrected.

At any rate, what systems do you use to reduce your dependency? Solar?

I'm just joking, I use Vista daily as well on my PC and have no problems with it. Just seems to be the butt of all jokes around here. :D

Congratulations on the purchase of a computer you "hate"; may both you and your "hated" MBP live long together and prosper. For may part, I have a MBP and I love it as it is easily the best computer I have ever had.

Cheers and good luck

sorry not true i reckon. i tested your theory out by dropping my uMBP and it bent after a very short trip. id much prefer plastic considering it has bounce and can be replaces more easily and cheaply. environmental plastic of course.

I'm disappointed. I opened this thread to make the great offer of paying for shipping to send it to me if you hated it so much. lol
