Shipping companies are great if you can eliminate the idiot element from them.
The fact that you or any other employee at this place are damaging another's person valuable goods is plain idiotic and retarded, then having the malice to single out goods espeially marked fragile. That is so fuggin juvenile. You could be ruining other people's lives and causing them great pain and hitting their wallets all because you had a bad day at your crappy job. Give me a break. The customer didnt do anything to you. If you dont like your job get a better one instead of taking it out on another's valuable goods.
😡
Well, first of all I never once tried to justify my actions. I know they were wrong as knew they were wrong back then. I wasn't looking for acceptance, I was merely stating a personal experience. I got hit with a box, I lost my cool, I did something stupid.
Next, while we did have that running joke about fragile boxes, I will tell you exactly how many times we actually acted on that joke...
ZERO
Third, while you may think that the customer never did anything to us, you'd be surprised. Want to know how many times I was yelled at because I couldn't make the plane fly exactly to the city their box was going to (customers don't want to hear about the "hub and spoke" method of shipping)? I'd need to take off my shoes to count them all. And did I take it out on them? Nope. Their package still made it where is was supposed to go without any problems.
And finally, like everything else in life, accidents happen. You can't control strong wind gusts or sheets of pouring rain. You can only do the best you can to try and get the job done right. And at least 50% of the time, box damage was due to the packer's poor packing. And if you have ever been out offloading an airplane in -10 degree weather, sometimes you get a little sloppy because you just want to get inside. Despite of all that, I loved my job. It was the best job I ever had and I am sure that many of the people I worked with feel the exact same way. Granted, things may have not been done exactly as they were supposed to be but we prided ourselves on doing a good job and making sure that airplane left ontime each and every night.
So, relax, take a deep breath. No need to get so upset.
