Well my grandma forgot my birthday last May! (She is 96 years old, so I am surprised she even remembers who I am) Well to make up for it she sent me a $100 dollar check that I have now put on my debit card and since it was free money I am looking for something cool to spend it on! Any suggestions?

Also I returned a TV that I got on sale (Didn't fit in my entertainment center) and they refunded my card the full non-sale price to my card, so I have another $54.24, well we will just say $55 dollars, to spend! So what ever you suggest needs to be close to $155 or maybe a little more!

Decide what you want, then hold off for 3-6 months and then if you still want to, spend it. That way you end up with something you actually want instead of buying something now and in 3 months wishing you had that $150 back.

I agree with that sentiment, but I stopped suggesting that on these forums before I got here.

Thats the thing, I always put a lot of money from my paychecks into my savings account but the only time I ever splurge on myself is when the money is a gift or received in way that I didn't have to work for. So seeing that this money fits the bill and it is one of maybe three times a year I actually spend money on myself for things that I don't need, I would like to spend it on something fun!

A girlfriend? Or at a bar trying to meet a girlfriend?

I have been with the same girl for three years now actually!

I didn't get a TV for $55, the difference between the sale price and full price was $55! So I spent roughly $650 at the sale price and when I returned the TV they put 705 back on my card (non-sale price)!

That's actually great advice that I wish I could of heard a month ago.

A donation to a Fistula foundation. $150+ would go a long way to restoring a womans life :).

Or a donation to the Hollows foundation to restore people's sight in the third world. You could restore ~6 people's sight for $150.

Shows what a selfish ******* I (and most people) are. Restoring eyesight and ending fistula is infinitely more worthwhile and important than buying myself stuff.

And even knowing that, I still would rather spend on stuff.

*shakes head*

I already have too many ipods... they sit on shelves and in drawers! :(

1st - sell the iPods you no longer use on eBay or to the kids in the hood.

2nd - SAVE the money in the bank; invest in bank stock or in Apple stock. Wait for another 3mths when financial results are stated in Apple's conference call - the stock will go north of 170 or if you're lucky it may split just after 3mths and you benefit! Either way if you want a new MBP you'll have extra cash for it.

Never impulse shop ... you'll always feel you got less than your money's worth in the long run.

If you don't have one already, consider getting a good quality battery backup. Or if you're an avid reader, pick up one of the first generation Kindles, I saw one go for $140 a couple weeks ago. Another choice would be a new digital camera if you need one :)

I have the battery backup I got from a church that was closing its doors! I am a HUGE reader and I have the first generation and second generation Kindle (Girlfriend uses the first) and my girlfriend is a amateur photographer so no need for the camera! But good suggestions! Thanks!
