So basically, my Mac is provided by my schools IT and they have no idea how to fix this. Anyway the problem is, every 10 or so seconds when I type anything, I really don't know how to explain it, it's as if an error message pops up (nothing pops up though, it's just does exactly what an error message would do though), like it tabs out makes a dodgy sound, then a second later I can continue typing, then it repeats.

It is reallllllyyyyy beginning to piss me off because I need to complete an essay and this is just a pain.

Hopefully there is a fix, thanks.

When you mute the sound (F10) does it go away?

Is it specific to typing or a certain app?

If you go to System Preferences > Sound > Sound Effects, uncheck play user interface sound effects and play feedback when volume is changed. Does anything change?

Does it actually prevent you from typing? If you hold down a letter (like g) and let the screen fill up with the repeating letter g does it pause typing during the ding?

If you make a new user account, does it still ding?

(nothing pops up though, it's just does exactly what an error message would do though)
I have no idea what you mean by this. Aside from the sound, an error message is just a pop up.

The closest thing that I can think of is something like Typinator which auto-replaces specific text as you type and makes a ding every time it does so. But it is not a Apple app so someone had to install it.
