I have a question about battery saver not fully charging

My MacBook (specs below) doesn't move or get unplugged much. Because of that the power saver only charges it to 80%.but sometimes its fully charged to 100% and then a couple days later its down to 80%. So what exactly is happening here? Is it letting it drain to 80% for no reason?

MacBook Pro 2020 - 2.3 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7. macOS 14.0
