...well not really, but this is kinda cool.

I was staring at one of the posters in our Biology class and I almost fell over when I saw where it was made: Skokie, IL. A short 45min hop over Lake Erie from my house.

I can't even visit their website without bursting out laughing:

http://www.skokie.org/

:D My day has been made.

Wow, that is pretty cool skoker! :)

Folks, we have a winner!! :D
Let's hope you and your familiy and friends never have any encounter with "your" law. In fact, let's hope nobody at all does.

And I hope nobody here ever has the "honor" of having a disease named after them!

where do you live?? lake erie is NOWHERE near illinois, definitely not 45 min away. I live in Chicago, Skokie is about 30 min from me.. very rich neighborhood, so to the poster above.. its old, but wealthy!

Oops, my bad. I was looking at the Southwest timetable and forgot that Skokie (Actually Chicago Midway :D ) is in a different timezone.

Whoops!

Oh, and first names are great, but I'm shooting for last names. My first name certainly isn't skok, it's Matthew.

While we're at it, my social security number is 090-72-1942

Interesting thread...I did a quick search and was surprised to discover that there are actually two towns in the U.S. named Rachel - one in Nevada and one in West Virginia.

Cool- two cities named after you! :)

iRachel, you must be double special. ;) :)

Having a whole country named after you sure beats just having a town named after you! :D ;) Such an honor ~Shard~], how comes you have managed to remain so humble? :) ;)

Hey, what can I say, it's a constant challenge... :D

I'v got a town in England (well, a hamlet, really) named after my family name. Absolutely nothing famous ever came from there EXCEPT the hamlet was noted for the number of hangmen it produced

So if you're looking for a short drop with a sharp stop, I guess... but

I have a Roman Emperor named after me...and he built a wall in Britain that's named after me!

Actually...my name is technically a modern form of his.

Hadrian's wall so... adrian?

Lethal

I've got quite a few towns and churches in Ireland and Scotland (and a castle there, too) that bear my surname or a variant thereof and somehow a slathering of sections in Winnipeg.

And my surname is very uncommon.
It helps to have a 6th century saint in your lineage.
